Girls’ Weekend in Memphis https://www.mommytravels.net/girls-weekend-in-memphis/ https://www.mommytravels.net/girls-weekend-in-memphis/#respond Mon, 04 Aug 2025 16:51:31 +0000 https://www.mommytravels.net/?p=52014 Plan the ultimate Memphis girls’ trip with my first-hand guide to the best brunch spots, karaoke bars, unique attractions, and must-see views. Fried chicken, Peabody ducks, and margaritas included.

Every few years, my friends from high school and I pick a city, pack our cutest weekend bags, and meet up for three glorious days of catching up, laughing until our mascara runs, and eating like we have the metabolism of a teenager. This year’s lucky city? Memphis, Tennessee.

Why Memphis? Because when your group chat is filled with “I just want good food, good drinks, and maybe something quirky,” Memphis practically raises its hand and says, “Honey, I got you.” Plus, it’s easy to get to for all of us — and let’s be real, any city known for both fried chicken and Elvis is bound to be a good time. Also, one of us lives there, so she planned the whole thing! Thanks Paula!

We met up back in March, when the weather was doing that “I might be spring, but I also might be winter” thing. Luckily, we were too busy eating, drinking, and reminiscing to care.

Friday Afternoon: Global Café — A Passport Without Leaving Memphis

Global Cafe Memphis
Global Cafe Memphis | Photo by Meagan Wristen

A few of us managed to catch earlier flights and decided to kick things off at Global Café (1350 Concourse Ave, Suite 137, Memphis, TN 38104), a nonprofit food hall that serves authentic dishes from around the world, all made by immigrant and refugee chefs. It’s like a culinary round-the-world trip in one meal.

I had Ethiopian lentils, one friend ordered Venezuelan arepas, and another had a plate of Nepali momos. Every bite was a reminder that Memphis is so much more than BBQ (although you should probably eat that too). Global Café feels warm and welcoming, and the prices are refreshingly reasonable — which means you can absolutely justify ordering dessert.

Night One: Fried Chicken, Friendships, and the Kind of Laughing That Hurts Your Cheeks

Hen House
Hen House | Photo by Meagan Wristen

When the rest of the crew arrived, we headed straight to dinner at Hen House (679 S Mendenhall Rd, Memphis, TN 38117). If you’ve never been, Hen House is Memphis’ love letter to fried chicken — and I’m happy to report it’s as crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned as you’re imagining.

There’s something magical about that first meal together after months (or years) apart. Within minutes, we were back to our high school rhythm — finishing each other’s sentences, reminding each other of ancient inside jokes, and wondering why we ever let so much time pass between meetups.

Karaoke at Dru’s Place: Because the ’90s Called and We Answered

Karaoke at Dru’s Place
Karaoke at Dru’s Place | Photo by Meagan Wristen

After dinner, it was time for karaoke at Dru’s Place (1474 Madison Ave, Memphis, TN 38104). Dru’s is a dive-y, welcoming LGBTQ+ bar that’s big on personality and even bigger on community. The karaoke crowd is an eclectic mix of locals and visitors, and everyone cheers for everyone — whether you’re belting Whitney Houston like a pro or mumbling your way through “Sweet Caroline.”

We sang our hearts out to everything from Baby Got Back to I Will Survive.

Saturday Brunch: Champagne and Tapas (Because Why Not?)

Esco Memphis Restaurant & Tapas

The next morning, we rallied for brunch at Esco Memphis Restaurant & Tapas (1586 Madison Ave, Memphis, TN 38104). If you’re imagining dainty little plates, think again — Esco delivers both quality and quantity. I started with a mimosa (as one does), then moved onto shrimp and grits so creamy I considered proposing to the chef.

The place has a lively, celebratory atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve been invited to a very fashionable birthday party — one where the dress code is “look cute but be comfortable enough to eat a lot.”

Bass Pro Shop Pyramid: Views Worth the Elevator Ride

Bass Pro Shop in Memphis
Bass Pro Shop in Memphis | Photos by Meagan Wristen

Memphis’ Bass Pro Shop is… an experience (1 Bass Pro Dr, Memphis, TN 38105). First, it’s shaped like a giant pyramid. Why, because it used to be a basketball stadium. Second, it’s part sporting goods store, part aquarium, part lodge, and part observation deck with some of the best views of the Mississippi River.

We took the world’s tallest free-standing elevator to the top and stepped out onto the glass observation decks. If you’re afraid of heights, this is your moment to prove how brave you are — or at least how good you are at pretending. The views are spectacular, especially at sunset, and you can even grab a drink at the top if you want to linger.

The Ducks at the Peabody: Memphis’ Most Adorable Celebrity Sighting

Ducks at the Peabody

Before dinner, we went to see the Peabody Ducks. If you don’t know about this Memphis tradition, let me enlighten you: twice a day, the hotel’s resident ducks strut their way from their rooftop palace to the lobby fountain like they own the place — because they do.

It’s cute. It’s charming. (149 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38103). They splash around like tiny celebrities while a crowd of adults and children alike snap photos and cheer. I was stunned how crowded it was, so I recommend getting there a little early. We barely made it there in time, so I had to go upstairs and look down to see it.

Saturday Night Dinner: The Beauty Shop

The Beauty Shop Memphis

Dinner that night was at The Beauty Shop (966 Cooper St, Memphis, TN 38104), an eclectic restaurant that used to be — wait for it — a beauty salon where Priscilla Presley once got her hair done. The vintage hair dryer chairs are still there, and the décor is a mix of retro glam and funky charm.

The menu is globally inspired, with everything from watermelon and wings to wood-fired pizzas and perfectly grilled steaks. We shared dishes and sipped creative cocktails.

After Dinner: Beale Street

Beale Street
Beale Street | Photo by Meagan Wristen

Post-dinner, we headed to Beale Street. This iconic strip is alive with neon lights, live music pouring out of every doorway, and enough people-watching opportunities to keep you entertained for hours. We hopped between bars, danced to blues and rock, and reminded ourselves that even though we’re older than we were in high school, we can still stay out past midnight. Barely.

Sunday Brunch at TE’KILA UNION AVE: Margaritas Before Noon

TE’KILA UNION AVE

Sunday morning, we embraced our “vacation rules” philosophy — namely, that it’s socially acceptable to drink tequila before noon — and went to TE’KILA UNION AVE (1350 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38104) for brunch. Yes, they have eggs, pancakes, and breakfast tacos, but the margarita menu is the real star.

Sunday Afternoon: Crosstown Concourse

Crosstown Concourse Art

After brunch, we wandered over to Crosstown Concourse (1350 Concourse Ave, Memphis, TN 38104), a massive renovated Sears building turned into a multi-level hub for art, dining, and culture. We browsed the free art exhibits and popped into the Memphis Listening Lab, a music lover’s dream with thousands of records, CDs, and music books to explore.

Soaking up History at Sun Studio

Sun Studio

To wrap up our weekend, we headed to Sun Studio (706 Union Ave, Memphis, TN 38103) for a tour. This is where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis all recorded, and the tour is full of fascinating stories and vintage equipment.

Things We Didn’t Do But You Absolutely Should If You Have Time

Beale Street during the day

Even though we packed our weekend with food, music, and sightseeing, there are a few Memphis must-dos we didn’t squeeze in:

  • Shelby Farms Park – One of the largest urban parks in the country, perfect for a walk or bike ride.
  • National Civil Rights Museum – A powerful, moving museum located at the Lorraine Motel.
  • Stax Museum of American Soul Music – A vibrant celebration of soul’s history.
  • Memphis Riverboats – Take a cruise on the Mississippi for city views and history.

Tips for Planning Your Own Memphis Girls’ Getaway

Memphis Girls Trip
Memphis | Meagan Wristen
  1. Stay Downtown – You’ll be close to most attractions, and you can walk or grab short rideshares everywhere.
  2. Make Reservations – Brunch spots and popular restaurants book up fast, especially on weekends.
  3. Pack Comfy Shoes – Memphis is walkable, but those cobblestone streets aren’t stiletto-friendly.
  4. Plan for Late Nights – Whether it’s karaoke or live music, Memphis knows how to keep the party going.
  5. Come Hungry – Seriously, the food is half the reason to come here.

Final Thoughts

Beale Street at Night
Beale Street at Night | Photo by Meagan Wristen

Memphis turned out to be the perfect backdrop for a weekend of friendship, fun, and more fried chicken than I care to admit. It’s a city with soul — in its music, its food, and its people — and it delivers the kind of experiences you’ll talk about for years.

As we hugged goodbye on Sunday afternoon, I couldn’t help but feel grateful — not just for the food and the views, but for the kind of friends who will belt out ’90s karaoke with you and then cheer for ducks the next morning. That’s the real magic of a girls’ trip: it’s not just about where you go, but who you’re with.

So if you and your girlfriends are looking for a place that’s equal parts lively, laid-back, and delicious, put Memphis on your list. Just save me a seat at karaoke — I’ve got “No Scrubs” queued up and ready.

Are you overdue for a getaway with your girlfriends? After the way the last few years have gone, I am sure that your answer is yes! There are few things in life that can restore you as much as a girl’s trip with your friends. Los Cabos is an excellent choice for your next girlfriend getaway. Here are some tips for planning the entire trip.Cabo Girls Trip

Los Cabos Girlfriend Getaway

I took a fabulous trip to Cabo with my girlfriends a while back. We were delighted with fancy multi-course dinners, relaxing days around the pool, and of course a day at the spa. All of us were left with memories to last a lifetime. Here is everything you need to know to plan your own Cabo girls’ trip.

Stay at an All-Inclusive Resort

You don’t often get to spend time with your girls and you deserve to be spoiled. So, splurge a little and stay at an all-inclusive resort with your girlfriends. Los Cabos has a lot of all-inclusive resorts to choose from, here are three of my personal favorites. Each of these resorts offers rooms with two beds that can sleep up to four people. Remember to factor in dining before you book. You want to stay somewhere you can enjoy lovely meals together.

Hacienda Encantada ResortAdults-only pool at Hacienda Encantada

Indulge in some sun, sand, and spa treatments at Hacienda Encantada it’s the perfect spot for you! This resort is like your own personal sanctuary, with stunning views of the Sea of Cortez and luxurious amenities at every turn. Whether you want to sip margaritas by the pool, treat yourselves to a relaxing massage, or explore the vibrant nightlife of Cabo San Lucas, Hacienda Encantada has got you covered. And I’m not just saying that – I’ve been there myself with my gal pals, and let me tell you, we had the time of our lives. Check rates.

Paradisus

Paradisus Los Cabos

This is an all-inclusive family-friendly resort with a safe swimming beach, six restaurants, and four bars. Plus there is a kid’s club and a spa.

Garza BlancaCabo Garza Blanca

The newest resort in Cabo is Garza Blanca. This is a good option if you do not want all-inclusive because they offer a lower-cost European plan or if you want a multi-room suite everyone can share. They have three restaurants and eight pools.

Sandos Finisterra

If you are wanting to stay in town this is a great option. Just across the street is the marina and a few steps further shopping, restaurants, and bars. They have eight restaurants, several bars, and a dance club. This resort also offers multi-room suites.

Grand Fiesta Americana

Sandos Finisterra

Located in Cabo San Lucas, Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos All Inclusive Golf & Spa is next to a golf course and on a private beach. It is family-friendly and has loads of amenities like free airport transfer.

Marina Fiesta

Marina Fiesta in Cabo has everything you could possibly need for a fun and unforgettable vacation with your besties. From delicious cocktails and fine dining to a stunning pool and luxurious spa, Marina Fiesta has it all. Check current rates

Indulgent SpasThe spa at Paradisus Los Cabos

Staying at an all-inclusive resort is not the only way to be pampered. Step the pampering up a notch by spending a day at the spa. Cabo has an abundance of glorious spas ensuring you will find one that offers what you are looking for. I recommend finding one with lots of included amenities like hydrotherapy and remember, you do not have to be staying at a property to visit their spa.

Beach TimeBagatelle Los Cabos

You cannot spend time in Cabo and not spend time at the beach. Hopefully, the resort you stay at includes cabana service, because there are few things more enjoyable than lounging on the beach while someone brings you fruity drinks. Depending on where you stay, they may or may not have a swimmable beach. If they do not, don’t fret because Los Cabos boasts 19 blue flag-certified beaches. Ask your concierge for a recommendation near your resort.

Fun Activities in Los CabosRide a Camel in Cabo

The area has no shortage of activities, and it will be easy to find an activity that the entire group will want to do. No matter what you decide to do or not do, be sure to go snorkeling. Los Cabos is home to a spectacular reef.

For an out-of-the-box experience, go on a camel ride down the beach or swim with whale sharks.

For a killer photo opportunity, take a sunset cruise, and wear colorful, flowing dresses. That is what we are doing in several of the photos above.

For a truly unique experience, try the Barefoot Elegance & Gourmet Dining on the beach at Grand Fiesta Americana. This experience starts by smashing grapes with your feet down at the beach around a fire. This is followed by a foot massage and a wine tasting and ends with a gourmet meal at the beach.Grand Fiesta Americana

Tequila tasting is also quite fun. The more you taste the more enjoyable it becomes!Cabo tequila tasting

Pool Timethe pool at Paradisus Los Cabos

With 350 days of sunshine year-round, most days will be a great day for the pool. Take advantage of that all-inclusive plan, and park yourself at the swim-up bar and catch up with your friends over drinks.

There is a lot going on in the downtown area. Be sure to have lunch at Baja Lobster Company. It’s fantastic, especially the lobster tacos!Baja Lobster Company Los Cabos

Nightlife

Downtown Cabo San Lucas, near the marina, is packed full of festive bars, where you will find themed bars and heart-pumping dance clubs. Here you will find Fat Tuesday, Senior Frogs, and Nowhere Bar, known for celebrity sightings. One way to add fun and capture great photos is to have a color theme on your night out! We all dressed up in white one night. If you are worried about going out, consider doing an organized bar crawl tour instead. Either way, remember to always stick with your girls when going out.

With something for everyone, a trip to Cabo is sure to be a success. So, don’t delay, grab your BFF’s and start planning your Los Cabos girlfriend getaway.

Get Travel Insurance

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flights

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner! Another option for finding deals is FlightHub.

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass, PogoPass, and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Get a Lyft

More often than not, Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase.

Get a Visa

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.

This article on Gatlinburg is way overdue. Back in September, I went on a girl’s trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and I was totally blown away by how great it was on basically every level. So much so, it made my list of the 10 best places to visit in 2025. Here’s everything I think you need to know to have a killer girl’s trip to Gatlinburg!

Where to Stay in Gatlinburg

 Embassy Suites Gatlinburg Resort

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Gatlinburg Resort and I gotta say it was great. The rooms were large like you expect at any Embassy Suites but because it’s a resort it has so much more. From multiple pools including a zero-entry pool, lazy river, and large hot tub to an onsite restaurant, bar, and ice cream shop there’s more right there for the guests. They even have an on-site activity center where you can book fly fishing trips, hiking excursions, and more.

Fly Fishing

Gatlinburg Fly fishing

In my opinion, fly fishing is a must here even if you’ve never done it before. It’s fun and relaxing at the same time. Plus, it’s thrilling when you do catch a fish. We did a lesson with Smoky Mountain Guides because my two friends had never done it before. Just like me, they ended up loving it.

Hiking

12 Best Hiking Trails in Gatlinburg, Tennessee

There is an abundance of hiking including one trail right in town! Gatlinburg is right at the entrance to the Great Smokey Mountains so whether you are looking for a super easy trail or super advanced trail they’ve got it.  If you do not want to go hiking on your own I suggest booking a tour with Smoky Mountain Guides.

For tips on specific trails read 13 Best Hiking Trails in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Moonshine Tasting

Moonshine Tasting in Gatlinburg

Downtown has a ton of moonshine tasting rooms to choose from, each with every possible flavor of moonshine. My favorite was the pecan pie.

Shopping

Shopping in Gatlinburg

Downtown is adorable and full of shops. You could shop around for hours if you wanted to and not make it into all of the shops here. We were on the hunt for cowboy boots and although we found a lot they were a little to pricey for us.

Anakeesta

Anakeesta Gatlinburg

A must while in Gatlinburg is Anakeesta, a mountaintop adventure park packed with activities for all ages. Stroll along the scenic TreeTop Skywalk, one of the longest tree-based bridges in North America, offering breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains. Kids will love the whimsical Treehouse Village Playground, while thrill-seekers can enjoy the adrenaline-pumping Rail Runner Mountain Coaster, the first of its kind in the United States. With ziplining, shopping, dining, and spectacular views from the Anavista Observation Tower, there’s truly something for everyone at this unique outdoor destination.

Lunch at Tennessee Jed’s

Lunch at Tennessee Jed's

You can dine in at Tennessee Jed’s or grab food to-go and have a picnic, like I did inside The Great Smokey Mountains park. I had the smoked chicken salad and watermelon slices. The picture doesn’t may not look like much but this sandwich was crazy good.

Dinner at Ole Red

Dinner at Ole Red

Craving dinner with a side of honky-tonk charm, Ole Red is the place to be. I sat down expecting some solid Southern grub, but what I got was a delightful rollercoaster of flavors and vibes. My salad was shockingly amazing—fresh, crisp, and almost too healthy for a place serving up fried everything. But the real plot twist? A Lucky Charms cheesecake for dessert. Because nothing screams “Tennessee fine dining” like a nostalgic sugar rush masquerading as a gourmet treat. Meanwhile, a local band was absolutely killing it on stage, belting out country hits.

Clifftop Tap House

Clifftop Tap House
Photos by Meagan Wristen

During sunset hours, I highly recommend grabbing dinner at Clifftop Tap House’s patio. You can watch an epic sunset while dining on high-quality food. Kick off your meal with a southern favorite, fried green tomatoes, and treat yourself to steak or fish for your main dish. This is located up at Anakeesta so work it into your day when you visit there.

A girls’ trip to Gatlinburg is the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and downright fun. From indulging in delicious meals to mastering the art of fly fishing (or at least attempting it), every moment is packed with laughter and unforgettable memories. Hiking through the Smokies provided breathtaking views and just enough cardio to justify all the treats we devoured. Anakeesta added a touch of magic with its mountaintop charm, and everywhere we turned, there was something new to explore. Whether you’re craving outdoor thrills, incredible food, or just a weekend away with your besties, Gatlinburg delivers the ultimate getaway—no planning stress required, just pure, unfiltered fun.

Looking for a perfect spot to unwind with your girlfriends? Georgetown, Texas, has everything you need for a fun, food-filled, and Instagram-worthy weekend. I know because I just got back from a quick weekend getaway in November 2024 with my lifelong friends Lindsey and Kristin. Here’s a ready-made itinerary featuring the best eats, stays, and activities in town.

Why Georgetown?

With its unique mix of natural beauty, culinary delights, and small-town charm, Georgetown is the perfect setting for a weekend to reconnect and create memories with your favorite people. Plus, it’s super close to tons of Austin and tons of wineries. So, pack your bags and let the adventures begin!

Where to Stay: Sheraton Georgetown

Sheraton Georgetown

Kick off your weekend in comfort and style at the Sheraton Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center. With its chic rooms, welcoming ambiance, and prime location, it’s the perfect home base. For guests with status, there’s a special lounge just for them with snacks and drinks. And for all guests, there are loaner bicycles.

Don’t miss the inviting pool and relaxing outdoor spaces where you can sip a glass of wine while catching up with the girls. There’s a restaurant on-site as well as a lobby bar.

One thing to note, the hotel does not have an electric car charger. I road-tripped in a Nissan Ariya and needed a charger. Less than a mile away is a Chargepoint with two fast chargers. Both times I stopped by the chargers were available and working.

Shop Till You Drop in the Square

Shopping at Georgetown’s Historic Downtown Square

Georgetown’s Historic Downtown Square is a shopaholic’s dream. Spend the day perusing local boutiques like Teal Sky for unique accessories or All Things Kids for charming gifts and treasures. Don’t forget to pop into Georgetown Antique Mall for vintage finds that spark nostalgia. I found a gorgeous wreath at All Things New Florals & Design by Debra.

Georgetown Winery

Gather your crew and sample some of Texas’s finest wines at this cozy winery right in the historic square. Both of my friends prefer sweeter wines and they had a bunch. If you prefer sweet wine this is definitely the winery you want to prioritize. I love reds and they had plenty of those too. A tasting includes four 2 oz samples for $18.

Blue Hole Park

Blue Hole

No trip to Georgetown is complete without exploring Blue Hole Park, a scenic lagoon perfect for a morning stroll or a refreshing dip on a hot day. One area has built-in steps for easy entry. Free public parking is available at the corner of 3rd Street and Rock Street in the parking lot or the parking garage.

For something more active, hike the trails out at Lake Georgetown or rent kayaks to paddle around the serene waters. A hike I’d like to do eventually out there is the Crockett Garden Falls. It looks quite beautiful. Another good option would be biking the San Gabriel Hike & Bike Trail.

Inner Space Cavern

Inner Space Cavern

Add a touch of adventure by exploring these fascinating underground caves. The tour is fun and educational—and the perfect escape from the Texas heat or if it’s raining you can escape that too because the cave doesn’t flood. We did the shortest tour which I thought was excellent. If you are a hard core adventurer you can go spelunking down there. They also have a fun zip ride here you can do to, but it was raining the day we went so it wasn’t running.

Sweet Eats Farm

Sweet Eats Farm

For a whimsical experience, visit this charming farm for seasonal activities and fresh local produce. It’s great for photo ops, too! When we visited the pumpkin patch had ended but you could still walk through the corn maze. Other activities included a zip line, pig races, a petting zoo, a bounce pillow, horse rides, apple cannons, and more. You could spend all day here quite easily. When we went there were dinosaurs everywhere.

Hard Count Kitchen

For a laid-back lunch or dinner, Hard Count offers hearty meals with a sophisticated twist. Think comfort food, but make it gourmet. I had the enchiladas and they were so good. My friend Lindsey highly recommends the Monte Cristo she had. I saw that they have a really good happy hour every day from 3 – 6 PM with $6 drinks. Located just across the street from the Sheraton at 1500 Rivery Blvd Suite 2105, Georgetown, TX 78628.

Sweet Lemon

This charming spot is perfect for coffee dates, light bites, and unique lattes. Their pastries and salads are a must-try. I had a scone and the coffee cake and both were wonderful. I took a bite on of Lindsey’s kolache and it was super good too. Even better was her snickerdoodle latte I also had to try!

Sunday Brunch at Encantada

Sunday Brunch at Encantada

This elevated Mexican eatery along the river is ideal for a fancy brunch or an indulgent dinner with its chic ambiance and Mexican inspired dishes. In case you are wondering if this used to be El Monumento, yes it was. It’s under new ownership as of late October 2024 but still just as delicious. I had the tres leches french toast because I was trying to be unhealthy and it was well worth it. Located at 205 W 2nd St, Georgetown, TX 78626.

Monument Cafe

No Georgetown trip is complete without a visit to this iconic diner. Go for the classic comfort food and stay for the slice of pie—because life’s too short to skip dessert. I got the brunch drink flight. It came with a Bloody Mary, two types of mimosas, and a blackberry margarita. Their Bloody Mary’s are perfect. Our whole breakfast was so good we almost went back the next day. Located at 500 S Austin Ave, Georgetown, TX 78626.

2020 Market

2020 Market

This upscale market and bistro combo offers everything from wine flights to delectable dishes. It’s a perfect dinner spot before diving into your evening plans. If you get there during happy hour you can enjoy $5 cocktails and half off all appetizers. Located close to the Sheraton as well at 1500 Rivery Blvd. Suite 1100, Georgetown, Texas 78628.

As your weekend getaway in Georgetown, Texas, comes to an end, you’ll leave with more than just shopping bags and camera rolls full of stunning photos. You’ll take home cherished memories of laughter, indulgent meals, and meaningful moments shared with your girlfriends. From the charming streets of the historic square to the hidden wonders of Inner Space Cavern, Georgetown offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. It’s a destination that feels like a hidden gem yet welcomes you like an old friend.

If you’re looking for the perfect getaway with your girlfriends, look no further than Fredericksburg, Texas. This quaint town is a treasure trove of wineries, boutiques, and delicious eats. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, just need a break from the daily grind, or simply want to indulge in some fine wine and retail therapy, Fredericksburg has everything you need for an epic girls’ trip. Here’s how my best friend Lindsey and I spent an unforgettable weekend in wine country, sipping our way through vineyards, indulging in gourmet meals, and snagging some seriously cute finds.

Stay at Absolute Charm AirBNB

Absolute Charm AirBNB Fredericksburg, TX

After driving into town (cue the playlist packed with girl-power anthems), we arrived at Absolute Charm, our VRBO. Think cozy meets chic—this place was Insta-worthy at every angle. With its charming decor and perfect location in the heart of Fredericksburg, it was the ideal spot to unwind after a day of wine tasting. Bonus points for the comfy beds because, let’s be honest, no one wants to wake up with a wine headache and a crick in their neck. For more suggestions on where to stay check out: 10 Unique Places to Stay in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Take a Wine Tour

Invention Vineyards Fredericksburg, Texas

What’s a girls’ trip to Fredericksburg without a wine tour, am I right? We mapped out a solid plan to hit four wineries that gave us a perfect blend of red, white, and everything in between.

Grape Creek Vineyards
We started off at Grape Creek Vineyards, aka “Tuscany in Texas.” The sprawling vineyards and Mediterranean-style buildings made us feel like we had been transported straight to Italy (minus the 14-hour flight). The wines? Chef’s kiss. We may or may not have joined the wine club. I mean, when in Rome…or Fredericksburg.

Heath Sparkling Wines
Next up, we made a beeline for Heath Sparkling Wines. Because nothing says “girls’ weekend” quite like bubbly. And let me tell you, these sparklers did not disappoint. The tastings were paired with some of the fanciest little bites, and it felt like we were living our best champagne-sipping, luxe-lifestyle dreams.

Invention Vineyards
Invention Vineyards brought out our inner wine connoisseurs (OK, more like casual tasters, but still). This winery had some inventive blends, and each sip was like a pleasant surprise. We debated the notes of oak, berries, and…I don’t know, magic? My favorite is their red RB wine. It was a fun and unique stop on our tour.

Kuhlman Estate
Last but definitely not least, Kuhlman Estate. This place oozes laid-back charm. We loved the intimate atmosphere, and the tiny food pairing with the wine tastings was a total game changer. It’s hard to describe just how good the wine was—let’s just say we didn’t leave without bottles in hand.

For more winery recommendations check out: 12 Top Wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Breakfast

Sunset Grill Fredericksburg

For breakfast, we headed to Sunset Grill, which quickly became our new favorite brunch spot. The coffee was strong (thank goodness), and the food was comfort on a plate. I highly recommend their huevos rancheros if you’re into starting your day with a kick. Plus, the name says it all—you couldn’t pick a more perfect spot for soaking up that Texas sunshine.

Lunch

Stouts Fredericksburg

If you join the wine club at any of the four wineries I mentioned then you have access to Stouts their private restaurant next to Grape Creek Vineyards. They have an amazing charcuterie board. Basically, everything we had there was fabulous and the staff was lovely.

Dinner

The Traveler Collections Fredericksburg, Texas

Dinner was spent at Traveler’s Table Collection, where the food was just as delightful as the ambiance. This spot has a global fusion menu that took us on a culinary adventure—everything from charcuterie boards to decadent entrees that were seriously drool-worthy. We ended the night feeling fancy and full (the best combo).

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Shopping in Fredericksburg, Texas

No girls’ trip is complete without some retail therapy, and Fredericksburg’s boutique scene is top-tier. We wandered in and out of stores, each more charming than the last. Whether you’re in the market for unique home decor, vintage finds, or cute clothing, you’ll find it all here. Just be warned, your credit card might get a workout! For more things to do check out: 10 Amazing Things to Do in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Visit a Swanky Bar

Brooke's Bubble Bar Fredericksburg, Texas

We also popped into Brooke’s Bubble Bar for a little shopping and sips situation. Who knew sipping a mimosa while perusing cute accessories was the key to happiness? I originally thought we would need a reservation in advance but this wasn’t the case, we walked right in. If it is too busy, head across the street to Six Twists.

Wildseed Farms

Wildseed Farm Fredericksburg, Texas

Between sipping and shopping, we took a scenic detour to Wildseed Farms. If you love flowers, this place will blow your mind—it’s the largest working wildflower farm in the country. Even if you’re not into plants, the stunning fields are worth the visit. Plus, the gift shop was perfect for grabbing a few souvenirs to remind us of our Fredericksburg escape.

Final Thoughts: Plan Your Fredericksburg Girls’ Trip NOW!

Fredericksburg, Texas Girls Trip

From sipping sparkling wines to enjoying world-class food and soaking in the small-town charm, Fredericksburg delivered the ultimate girls’ weekend. We left with full hearts, fuller bellies, and enough wine to last…well, a week or two at least. If you’ve been thinking about planning a getaway with your gal pals, trust me, Fredericksburg should be at the top of your list.

So grab your friends, pack your bags, and get ready for a weekend of laughter, wine, and memories that will last long after the last sip. Cheers to girls’ trips done right!

Pack your bags, ladies—it’s time for a girls’ trip that will have you trading heels for hiking boots, and your glass of wine for, well…another glass of wine—but this time, it’s earned after a full day of horseback riding, fly fishing, and off-roading in the wild beauty of Western Montana. And the best part? You can fly directly from Dallas-Fort Worth to Missoula. So no layovers. No airport sprints. Just a straight shot to adventure.

Where to Stay

Stay at a ranch in Western Montana like Alpine Falls Ranch

You know the kind of trip where you’re debating between two equally amazing places to stay, and it feels like choosing between chocolate cake or cheesecake? That’s what you’re facing with Alpine Falls Ranch and High Tail Ranch. Either way, you win.

Alpine Falls Ranch

Alpine Falls Ranch

Alpine Falls Ranch is your spot if you want rustic luxury with panoramic views that make you wonder if you’ve just stepped into a postcard. The kind of place where you can throw your boots on the porch and relax in the outdoor hot tub after a long day of adventuring. The ranch sits on hundreds of private acres, so it’s you, your girlfriends, and the open sky. Maybe some deer. Or the occasional bear, but most importantly their adorable highland cows living here.

High Tail Ranch

High Tail Ranch

High Tail Ranch, on the other hand, is perfect for those craving a cozy, cabin-style escape. It’s a little more off-the-beaten-path, but if you’re ready for some serious seclusion with a side of adventure, you’re in the right spot. Picture mornings spent horseback riding and evenings gathered around a firepit laughing until your sides hurt. The ranch is all about relaxation and rejuvenation, but with an active twist—because you’re not the type to sit still for too long. We were lucky enough to visit during the bison round-up which is quite exciting. It happens once a year and for the right price guests can participate!

Horseback Riding

Alpine Falls Ranch
Photo from MommyTravels.net

Is it even Montana if you’re not on a horse? Saddle up, ladies. Whether you’re an experienced rider or just someone who’s watched Yellowstone one too many times, horseback riding in Montana is a bucket list must. At both ranches, you’ll find horses that are as friendly as they are eager to show you around. Ride through meadows, forests, and mountain trails that will make you question why you don’t live here year-round.

Hiking

Hiking in Western Montana
Photo from MommyTravels.net

Western Montana’s hiking trails are no joke. From casual strolls to more challenging treks, you’ll get views that will make your Instagram followers swoon with envy. Not to mention, you’ll burn off last night’s campfire s’mores (maybe). So, throw on your best “I’m an outdoorsy person now” outfit, and don’t forget to pack a water bottle.

Fly Fishing

Fly fishing the Gallatin River near Big Sky, Montana

No, you don’t need to be a professional angler to enjoy fly fishing in Montana. With rivers as clear as the sky above, you’ll be casting lines into waters that are famous for trout. Guides are available for beginners, and for anyone who thinks they know what they’re doing but maybe actually doesn’t. There’s something incredibly peaceful about standing in the middle of a river, fly rod in hand, waiting for that perfect bite. Plus, it’s a great excuse to wear waders without looking like you’re trying too hard.

Off-Roading

High Tail Ranch Girls Trip
Photo from MommyTravels.net

Off-roading in Montana isn’t just a mode of transportation—it’s a lifestyle. Whether you’re behind the wheel of a Jeep, ATV, or whatever vehicle is ready to tackle the rugged terrain, you’re in for an adrenaline rush. The best part? Montana’s dirt roads come with mountain views, fresh air, and the occasional mud-splattered selfie. Because let’s be real—if you don’t get dirty, did you even go off-roading?

Missoula: The Perfect Launchpad for Adventure

Missoula, Montana

Flying in and out of Missoula makes your Western Montana girls’ trip almost too easy. With direct flights from DFW, you can roll out of bed, grab a latte, and be on a plane faster than you can say “mountain retreat.” Missoula itself is worth a stopover—think college-town charm meets rugged Montana wilderness. Whether you’re grabbing a bite downtown or taking in the local art scene, you’ll quickly realize that this is more than just a gateway to adventure. It’s part of the adventure.

In Missoula, I recommend staying at the Residence Inn, grabbing a cocktail at Plonk Missoula, and having dinner at the 1889 Steakhouse.

Post-Adventure Relaxation: Wine, Hot Tubs, and Fireside Chats

High Tail Ranch
Photo from MommyTravels.net

After a day filled with horseback riding, hiking, fly fishing, and off-roading, there’s only one way to end the night—relaxing with your girls, a bottle of wine, and the stars overhead. Alpine Falls Ranch has a house with a hot tub that practically begs for post-adventure soak sessions, while High Tail Ranch has all the fire pit vibes you could ever want. Either way, it’s the perfect backdrop for recounting the day’s adventures, laughing about that time you almost fell off your horse (almost), and planning tomorrow’s escapades.

Final Thoughts

Quinn Hot Springs

Western Montana offers the kind of girls’ trip that makes you forget about the everyday grind and reminds you of what it feels like to be free and adventurous. It’s the perfect blend of outdoor activities and relaxation, all set in one of the most stunning landscapes in the U.S. So grab your best girlfriends, book those direct flights to Missoula, and get ready for a Montana escape that you’ll be talking about for years. And if you have extra time, pop into Quinn Hot Springs for a soak.

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to travel extensively with my girlfriends. Whether for a destination bachelorette party, divorce party or just a weekend to get together and catch up I’ve been all over the place with my friends. Here are some of my favorite girl’s trips, including a few all-inclusive girlfriend getaways

Extraordinary Destinations for a Girlfriend Getaway

Let’s face it, some destinations are more memorable than others. Here are four stunning destinations that have a little bit of everything like epic views, one-of-a-kind experiences, incredible food, and more.

Oia Santorini
Oia Santorini

Greece

If you can go anywhere, go to Greece and visit at least two of the islands. My two favorites are Santorini and Mykonos.

In Santorini, you can enjoy world-renowned sunsets in Oia, lounge on unique beaches like the Red Beach, and dabble in the electrifying nightlife in Fira.

In Santorini, staying in a cave is a must. There are hundreds of little whitewashed caves burrowed into the side of the mountain and staying at one is a one-of-a-kind experience. If staying in a cave is too expensive, consider staying one night in a cave and then moving to a cheaper hotel for the other nights. We stayed in the Ethereum Luxury Cave

Over on the island of Mykonos, friends can party all night at legendary clubs like the Toy Room and Ling-Ling by Hakkasan. During the day, you can bop around Mykonos city to do some one-of-a-kind shopping or head to one of the many gorgeous beaches to enjoy a lazy day of lounging.

In Mykonos, you should stay in Mykonos City or at a beach. If you prefer the beach, I recommend staying down at Plati Gialos.

San Antonio Girls TripSan Antonio

San Antonio has it all. They have exceptional restaurants with amazing food, excellent shopping, swanky hotels along the river walk, and happening nightlife. My go-to place to stay with girlfriends is Hotel Emma, one of the top boutique hotels in the world. My second recommendation would be Mokara Hotel and Spa because it’s right on the riverwalk, and the spa was fantastic! For a long list of San Antonio recommendations, see my article: San Antonio Guide.

Bachelorette Party in Savannah
Bachelorette Party in Savannah

Savannah

Savannah is a picturesque city full of history, and the food is absolutely phenomenal. While you are here, shop along the waterfront at the famous River Street Market Place, dine at incredible restaurants like Paula Dean’s Lady and Sons restaurant and Belford’s where celebrities often dine, and of course, hit up a spa. If everyone is up for some nightlife fun, Savannah has a popping club scene down at City Market. I recommend renting a large historic home with your friends and make sure it has a pool, ’cause it gets hot down there. If you have time, head out to Tybee Island to enjoy the beach!

salt water pool at El Dorado RoyaleRiviera Maya

Riviera Maya, Mexico is situated just north of Playa Del Carmen and it is filled with luxurious all-inclusive hotels. Here you and your girlfriends can completely unwind.

For those that can afford to splurge, there is Grand Velas, an all-inclusive resort with a plush spa, upscale dining, and butler service to take care of everything little thing you may need. You can read our full Grand Velas review.

For those with a tighter budget, there is El Dorado Royale, where almost every room has an ocean view and they offer butler service as well. They had food so good my friend and I still talk about it!

If you decide you want to leave the resort Playa Del Carmen is a short taxi ride away. Here friends can enjoy both shopping and nightlife. Here are 12 activities near Riviera Maya.

New York CityNew York City

New York City never disappoints. You and your girlfriends can shop until you drop, catch award-winning shows and eat fancy meals. If you have your heart set on seeing a specific show be sure to buy tickets in advance. Be sure to end at least one night at Ayza Chocolate Bar and book the penthouse at the Row NYC. There is so much to see in do in NYC check out our guide to help you place your entire trip, New York City Travel Guide or our Mother Daughter New York City Weekend Getaway.

Party Getaways

There’s plenty of time for grown-up girls’ getaways, but every now and again you want to let loose. Here are a couple of spots where you can keep the party going long after the sun goes down! Granted, all of the places mentioned here could be a party destination should you choose to make it.

AustinAustin, Texas Bachelorette Party

Austin, Texas has exploded over the last couple of years and there’s a good reason why. With well over 60,000 college students attending the University of Texas, including my daughter Eden, there are a lot of bars.

6th Street is the go-to party street. The street is closed off for pedestrian traffic only, making it easy to bounce from one bar to the next. There’s live music all over the place. If 6th Street is too intense, head one street over. On 5th street, the vibe is a little less rowdy and there are a lot of great rooftop bars.

If you want to take a break from the bar scene, try an area wine tour, go float the river, or visit one of the area springs to cool off! No matter what you do, have BBQ

In Austin, we recommend staying at The Line or renting a sweet VRBO.

Las Vegas

vegas dress
Vegas Baby!

Las Vegas is one of the top party cities in the world and everyone in your group will have fun dancing at night at packed clubs while famous DJs spin away. By day, friends can relax at the spa and lounge by the pool. My favorite place to stay with friends in Vegas is the Cosmopolitan or a VRBO. Here’s a list of our favorite VRBO Las Vegas Vacation Homes

For a list of recommendations, see my article: Las Vegas Girlfriends Getaway.

BangkokFind out what the top two Rooftop bars in Bangkok are

The nightlife in Bangkok is banging. (See what I did there?) They’ve got some of the most phenomenal rooftop bars in the entire world. Plus, the most famous party street in the world, Khao San Road. While you are there you must make time to see the sights and eat the incredible food. I recommend staying at Banyan Tree or at Fraser Suites.

Spa Getaways

Everyone deserves to be pampered once and a while. Why not take a spa trip with friends? You can enjoy long gourmet meals together, splurge on decadent spa treatments, and just take a break from the world. I recommend taking a spa trip to an all-inclusive getaway, especially if you’re a mom. Everything is done for you, which allows you to completely unwind. Whatever spa you decide to visit make sure they have a substantial hydrotherapy circuit.

Puerto Vallarta

Hotel Mousai

Puerto Vallarta is a fantastic city with rich culture, fantastic food, and lots of activities. Over the years it has gotten better on every level, so if it’s been over a decade since you visited it’s definitely worth going back. My favorite place to stay in Puerto Vallarta happens to also be my absolute favorite hotel in the world, Hotel Mousai. Their spa was out of this world and the rooftop pool is spectacular.

Punta Canaimg 4407

Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic often flies under the radar, but it’s an ideal place for a girlfriend’s getaway. The beaches are gorgeous, there are lots of fun things to do, and the food is unique. My favorite place to stay is Dreams Onyx on the adults-only side. If you want the spa plus the party, stay at Breathless. The pace is slow in Punta Cana, allowing you to fully relax.

Cancun

Live Aqua Cancun

Cancun could have gone under the party place, but what I enjoyed so much when I was there was not the party scene it was the spas. Almost every large resort has a pretty spectacular spa. My favorite place to stay in Cancun is in the resort zone at adult’s only all-inclusive Live Aqua Cancun. They do have a spa, but I recommend a different one. My favorite spa is Coral Beach Gem Spa located inside the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach resort.

Coral Beach Gem Spa
Coral Beach Gem Spa

Los Cabos

Cabo Girls Trip

Cabo is really ideal. For those on the West Coast, it’s super easy to get to and like most touristy places in Mexico, they’ve got it all. Fun excursions, elaborate all-inclusive resorts, killer food, and more. When I went with my friends we stayed at Paradisus. It was wonderful, but next time we will stay at Garza Blanca. Here is our Los Cabos Girlfriend Getaway to help you plan a fabulous trip.

Wino Getaways

There are few things in life better than catching up with your girls over a bottle of wine. Here are some wine-focused getaways everyone in your group will enjoy. If you want to visit an area with lots of wineries these are my top picks.

Portland Area

Brooks Winery
Brooks Winery

If food and wine are your top priorities head to Portland, Oregon,  where the foodie scene just keeps getting better and better as local award-winning chefs and winemakers continue to push the limits. Plus, the wine scene has exploded just outside of Portland in Hood River and Willamette Valley. In addition to good food and wine, they have a vibrant music scene and stunning gardens worth touring. For more food recommendations in Portland see my article: Best Things to Eat and Drink in Portland.

Fredericksburg

Das Peachhaus Winery Fredericksburg

For a low-key girls’ weekend filled with sweet Texas wines and boutique shopping, Fredericksburg is an excellent choice. This quaint German Texas town is full of wineries and independently owned shops and restaurants. Das Peach Hous has lots of area wines you can try and the property is beautiful. Visit the pond out back for a great photo opportunity. Other wineries you should visit are Messina Hof, Wedding Oak Winery at Wildseed Oak, and Fiesta Winery.

Fredericksburg, Texas
Silver Creek Bar & Grill in Fredericksburg, Texas

For a German lunch or dinner, eat at the Silver Creek Beer Garden and Grille. They almost always have live music. For a more upscale dinner, try Navajo Grill. At night you can grab a beer at Hondo’s on Main and listen to some live Texas rock. I recommend staying at Hoffman Haus or one of these: 10 Unique Places to Stay in Fredericksburg, Texas. To place your entire trip check out: Fredericksburg Girls’ Trip: Wine, Dine, and Shop Till You Drop.

Napa ValleyGirlfriends trip in Calistoga, California

I suppose everyone knows that Napa Valley is the place to go for a wine trip. I recommend staying in Calistoga, that’s where Dawna and I stayed for her birthday. Calistoga is a small city known for hot springs, mud baths, and of course amazing wineries. Stay at the Solage Resort, they’ve got a spa, multiple hot pools, excellent food, loaner bikes, and it’s close to lots of wineries. Be sure to visit Davis Winery, it blew our minds.

7 Best Napa Valley Wineries

11 Best Napa Wineries for Families with Kids

Finger LakesWineries in the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region of New York is bursting with wineries. You could spend several days in this area and never run out of wineries to visit. Some of my favorites are Montezuma Winery where you will want to sample their award-winning Diamond wine, Glenora Winery where you can try a fizzy pomegranate wine, and Belhurst Winery where the inside of the castle alone makes it worth the stop.

For a beautiful place to stay with a stunning garden, stay at Mirbeau Inn and Spa. As you plan your winery route be sure to make your way down to Watkins Glen State Park for a phenomenal hike.

Conclusion

This list could easily keep going because let’s face it when you are with friends any place is a good destination! This list gives you a lot of ideas to start planning your own girls’ trip.

Other places that are always fun that I didn’t include, but they came close to being in my top choices were Los Angeles and New Orleans. In fact, my next girl’s trip is in New Orleans in a few months with my Odessa girls, so I’ll probably be updating this soon.

The best part about planning a trip with your friends is that it doesn’t matter where you go. When you are with good friends you are guaranteed to have an epic time.

If you are looking for the perfect way to getaway with your best girlfriends, then New York City is an excellent choice.  As someone who has lived in the area for more than 10 years, I’ve spent many days and nights enjoying all the city has to offer with some of my best friends.  There truly is something for everyone and a girls trip to New York City will bring memories to last a lifetime.

Whether or not this is your first trip or one of many, this guide will tell you everything you need to know when planning your girls getaway to NYC

Best Time to VisitGirls trip to New York City

New York City is a four-season destination with something to see and do anytime of year.  If visiting in the winter, try going closer to the Holiday season when there is so much magic all around. Spring has that exciting vibe as the winter comes to an end and flowers are blooming everywhere.  The weather is mild but can be rainy at times so go prepared!

Summer is hot, but exciting with tons of outdoor festivals to enjoy.  This is a great time of year to explore the many parks and try out a rooftop pool.  Fall, is probably my favorite season of all.  The golden hues all around.  The weather is just perfect – not too hot, not too cold, making it the ideal time for a lovely city exploration with friends.

Things to do on your Girls Trip in NYC

From the iconic sights to hidden gems, there are so many incredible activities and experiences that promise an unforgettable trip with your friends. Whether you’re into art, food, or just soaking up the city vibes, it will be a truly fun and memorable trip to NYC.

Exploring NYC’s Iconic LandmarksStatue of Liberty

New York City’s skyline is iconic, marked by legendary landmarks that are must-sees on any trip, especially a girls’ getaway. Top of the itinerary should include The Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and democracy, and an awe-inspiring sight for both first-timers and those revisiting. Take the ferry over to Liberty Island or try a harbor cruise around the island.

Empire State Building

The Empire State Building offers breathtaking panoramic views from its observation decks. Going up this historical skyscraper is a classic NYC experience.  Alternatively, try Top of The Rock for even better views of the NYC skyline with the Empire State Building as an incredible backdrop.

Brooklyn Bridge

With each site offering its unique charm, your adventure through NYC will be filled with moments of laughter and fun with your girlfriends.

The Museum of Ice Cream is an experience that awakens the inner child. With each room offering a unique flavor of fun. There are so many fun photo-ops to create and remember your getaway with! Book your tickets in advance, as this popular attraction can draw a crowd. If you are up for ice cream for breakfast try booking an earlier reservation for less people.

Safety and Practical Tips

The safety and well-being of your group should always be a priority, especially when traveling in a busy city like New York.

Navigating the City Safely

Stick to well-lit areas and use trusted transportation methods, like rideshare services, or the MTA subway system. Always be aware of your surroundings and keep a buddy system in place, especially at night. It’s also a good idea to map out your destinations in advance and share your itinerary with family members or friends back home.

Staying Connected and Safe

Ensure everyone in the group has a charged phone and a plan for staying in touch, such as a designated meeting point or a messaging app. Keep important documents and valuables in a secure bag and make use of hotel safes. Register with your country’s local embassy and familiarize yourself with emergency services numbers.

Managing Personal Safety in Public Spaces

It’s important to be aware of your surroundings. Avoid keeping cellphones in your back pocket. Stay close together with your friends especially when exploring at night. If confronted with a situation that feels uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to leave the area and seek help.
