If you’ve been daydreaming about a Caribbean getaway where pampering and parenting can coexist peacefully, let me introduce you to Seven Stars Resort in Turks and Caicos. This five-star property on Grace Bay Beach delivers the kind of vacation that makes you want to check listings for beachfront real estate you’ll never afford.

Between its award-winning dining, full-service spa, and family-friendly features, Seven Stars is the kind of resort that works for both romantic escapes and family vacations. Here’s everything you need to know before booking.

Why Stay at Seven Stars Resort on Grace Bay?

Seven Stars Resort is located on Grace Bay Beach, which consistently ranks among the most beautiful beaches in the world. White sand, turquoise waters, and calm waves make it ideal for both lounging adults and sandcastle-obsessed kids.

The resort provides:

  • Plush loungers and umbrellas
  • Family cabanas stocked with cocktails and water (extra fee)
  • Attentive beach service that doesn’t require waving frantically like you’re flagging down a taxi
  • Floaties for the pool and for the ocean.

Seven Stars Resort Rooms & Suites

The accommodations at Seven Stars Resort strike the perfect balance of luxury and practicality, especially for families.

Spacious Suites with Kitchens

Choose from one- to four-bedroom suites featuring full or galley kitchens. This is perfect for families who don’t want to eat every meal at a restaurant (translation: your toddler can still eat cereal in their pajamas). The kitchens are stocked with pots, utensils, silverware, cups, a Nespresso, and more.

In-Room Washer and Dryer

Yes, you read that right. No more packing 12 swimsuits per kid. A quick wash and dry, and you’re back in business. It’s one of the most underrated luxuries in resort living. My unit didn’t have a washer dryer, mine has a bidet where the other units had washer and dryers. So, make sure you get one with a washer dryer if this is important.

Adjoining Suite Options

Traveling with extended family or a bigger crew? Adjoining suites make it easy to spread out without feeling like you’re running a daycare from your balcony.

Elegant Coastal Decor

Think crisp whites, cool blues, and Pinterest-worthy romantic beach chic. And if you splurge for an oceanfront view, you’ll never want to go home.

Pools at Seven Stars Resort

Sure, the ocean is the star of the show at Grace Bay, but Seven Stars Resort knows a vacation isn’t complete without a lineup of fabulous pools. They’ve got three distinct options, each with its own personality—so you can swim, splash, or sip in peace depending on your mood.

Kid’s Pool

Let’s start with the smallest but most beloved by the under-10 crowd: the kid’s pool. This shallow splash zone is perfect for little swimmers who aren’t quite ready to battle ocean waves or cannonball contests.

Main Family Pool

The centerpiece of the resort is the large family pool, and it’s exactly what you want on a sunny Caribbean afternoon. Think spacious loungers, easy access to snacks and drinks, and room for both playful splashing and leisurely floating. It’s lively without being chaotic.

Adults-Only Pool

For those moments when you just want peace and quiet (aka no Marco Polo games at top volume), there’s the adults-only pool. Tucked away for serenity, it’s the perfect spot to sip a cocktail, read a book, or practice your best “I’m too relaxed to care” face. Add in attentive staff bringing drinks to your lounger, and you’ve basically found poolside nirvana.

Dining at Seven Stars Resort Turks and Caicos

Seven Stars is a foodie paradise with some serious credentials.

The Farm Restaurant on Grace Bay

Recently named to TIME Magazine’s 100 World’s Greatest Places, The Farm is a can’t-miss dining experience.

  • Brunch: Fresh juices, pastries, and picture-perfect poached eggs
  • Dinner: Seasonal dishes highlighting local flavors, with options indulgent enough to justify stretchy pants

Dining here is equal parts sophisticated and approachable—aka you can order dessert without guilt.

Seven Restaurant

The resort’s namesake restaurant, Seven, is the place for an elegant meal—or, if you’re me, the place you happily stumble to every morning for their daily breakfast buffet. Fresh fruit, omelets, baked goods, and strong coffee ensure you’re fueled for a day of beach lounging or biking with the kids. By evening, Seven transforms into a refined dining experience, serving contemporary international cuisine with a Caribbean twist.

The Tasting Room at Seven

For wine lovers, the resort’s wine-pairing dinner at The Tasting Room is a bucket-list experience. Recognized by Wine Spectator, this intimate dinner pairs curated wines with a menu crafted by Executive Chef Edwin Gallardo, a two-time Caribbean Chef of the Year.

This is not your typical “house red with grilled fish” situation. Each pairing feels like a master class in flavor, and by dessert, you’ll be Googling ways to explain “wine pairing enthusiast” as a legitimate hobby on LinkedIn.

The Deck

For a more relaxed vibe, head to The Deck, the resort’s casual beachfront restaurant and bar. With ocean views that practically demand a sundowner in hand, The Deck serves up Caribbean-inspired dishes, fresh seafood, and craft cocktails. It’s the perfect spot for a barefoot lunch or sunset dinner with your toes in the sand.

The Terrace (Off-Site)

A short stroll from the resort, The Terrace is Seven Stars’ off-site dining option. This neighborhood-style restaurant and bar has a more laid-back, local feel and is a great choice when you want to switch things up without going far. Expect hearty comfort food, cocktails, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it popular with both guests and locals.

Seven Stars Resort Spa Review

The Seven Stars Spa is where I found my happy place. My massage was, in one word, fabulous. The spa itself is airy and serene, and the therapists know exactly how to make you forget about your inbox, your to-do list, and that group text that never stops pinging. There is no hydrotherapy, nor is there a hot tub anywhere on property. Be sure to book your treatment early in your stay. Spa appointments here fill up fast.

Family-Friendly Features at Seven Stars Resort

Seven Stars shines when it comes to family-friendly luxury. Unlike some resorts that feel like an adults-only zone with kids as an afterthought, Seven Stars makes families feel welcome without sacrificing sophistication.

Highlights include:

  • Outdoor kid’s pool – A super shallow little pool for the tiniest guests.
  • Fleet of bikes – A family ride along Grace Bay is about as picture-perfect as it gets.
  • Games & books available at the front desk – From Scrabble battles to bedtime stories, the resort has you covered.
  • Playground
  • Basketball Court
  • Tennis & Pickleball Courts: I was super bummed no one in my group wanted to play pickleball with me while I was staying here. Sadly, the kids were not with me cause they would have played. I found out right as I was leaving that I could have requested to have one of the staff play with me. If I had known this, I definitely would have done this.
  • Gym – The gym had weight machines, cardio machines, and my go-to piece of equipment, a foam roller. My back always hurts after the uncomfortable plane ride and a foam roller is a great way to work it our or a visit to the spa!
  • Water Activities – Paddleboards, kayaks, and more and included in the price of your stay.

Parents can relax knowing the kids are entertained, while kids have enough options to keep boredom at bay.

The Staff at Seven Stars Resort

One of the standout features of Seven Stars is the staff. Every single interaction I had felt warm, genuine, and helpful. The employees here seem happy, and it shows. Happy staff = happy guests, and it truly elevated the whole experience.

Is Seven Stars Resort Worth It?

Water activities at Seven Stars Resort

Absolutely. Seven Stars Resort in Turks and Caicos blends luxury and family-friendly amenities in a way few resorts manage to pull off.

You get:

  • A prime location on one of the world’s best beaches
  • Award-winning dining and wine experiences
  • Spacious suites with practical perks like kitchens and washers
  • A world-class spa
  • Family-friendly touches that make life easier

It’s the rare place where you can sip champagne at sunset while your kids are happily splashing in their pool. In other words, vacation balance achieved.

Quick Tips for Booking Seven Stars

  • Book early for The Tasting Room and spa treatments—they sell out.
  • Upgrade to a suite with a kitchen for ultimate convenience.
  • Reserve a family cabana at least once—the cocktails alone are worth it.
  • Take advantage of the bikes—especially if you want to justify an extra dessert at The Farm.

Final Thoughts on Seven Stars Resort Turks and Caicos

Seven Stars Resort is more than just a pretty place to stay—it’s a full-on experience. From the turquoise waters of Grace Bay to world-class dining and family-friendly luxuries, this resort checks every box.

So, if you’re planning your next Caribbean vacation and want a destination where pampering meets parenting, put Seven Stars at the top of your list. Trust me—you’ll leave already plotting your return.

With their pristine beaches, clear turquoise waters, and endless sunshine, they are the perfect place for family vacations. Whether you’re planning your first resort getaway or you’re a seasoned traveler, Turks and Caicos offers a variety of inclusive resorts that will delight the entire family. Let’s dive into the best family resorts in this tropical paradise, where adventure and relaxation await.

Alexandra Resort on Grace Bay Beach

A glorious beach, and a resort that doesn’t just tolerate your charming offspring but actually caters to them. Yes, it’s real, and it’s spectacular. Free for kids 12 and under because, let’s face it, nobody should have to pay extra just to have their kids ignore them in a more upscale environment. Perfect for those of us hauling around what feels like half a classroom, these suites aren’t just big, they’re like mini apartments with full kitchens—because sometimes you need to microwave something at 3 a.m.

The amenities are a tired parent’s dream: a sprawling lagoon-style pool that’s practically begging you to forget your responsibilities and just float. And with 12 dining options, even your most food-critical child (yes, I’m looking at you, little Miss “I don’t like the color green in my food”) will find something to devour. While they’re distracted, you can sneak off to the Elevate Spa or take a stab at water sports you last tried in your carefree, pre-kid days. Meanwhile, your kids will be in the safe clutches of the Fun Pals program, doing who knows what activities that they’ll swear were “okay, I guess” but secretly adore. All this with no extra charges looming over your head? Alexandra Resort might just be the place where parents can reclaim a bit of their own vacation magic, cocktail in hand, with the soothing whisper of “no extra fees” like a sweet lullaby. Ocean Club Resorts on Grace Bay Beach

They’ve apparently figured out the secret sauce to a truly enjoyable, family-friendly trip. They’ve got two all-suite resorts geared towards not just tolerating your delightful little chaos agents, but actually entertaining them. And let’s be real: any place that helps steer my kids away from another mind-numbing screen fest deserves a medal. Enter Seafari—an environmental scavenger hunt that does more than just keep the kids busy. It educates them about the local flora and fauna, and there are prizes, people! Because we all know everything’s more exciting when there’s a prize at the end.

The level of thoughtfulness for frazzled parents is almost tear-jerking. They offer everything from cribs and strollers to baby monitors and high chairs, so you don’t have to lug all of civilization with you. Watersports rentals? Check. Beach toys and board games? Double-check. And for those moments when you actually want to see your kids during vacation, there’s a whole lineup of family activities from snorkeling to bicycling, or even trying your hand at tennis or pickleball. Let’s not forget the tailored children’s menus—because somehow, magically, kids will eat anything as long as they think it’s their idea. With nearby shops and watersports, everyone gets a slice of their vacation pie. Check current rates.

Beaches Turks and Caicos is a vast all-inclusive resort that does a great job at supplying everyone with a fun and enjoyable vacation. This resort has plenty of restaurants, a water park, lots of activities, and a beautiful beach. What more could you ask for? Beaches Turks and Caicos is the perfect vacation spot for kids, teens, and adults. My family and I had a wonderful stay at this resort, and I saw numerous other families, friend groups, and couples having a great time as well.

Accommodations

Beaches Turks and Caicos is made up of multiple different “villages.” Each of them is made up of different buildings with restaurants and hotel rooms. There are perks to each area, therefore it would be hard for me to choose one specific village to stay at.

The French Village

My family and I stayed in the French village at Beaches Turks and Caicos. It is closest to the entrance of the resort, but farthest from the beach. Although the beach is a long walk from the French Village, it has its own large pool, and the water park is nearby. The stage is also located within the French Village.

Beaches Turks and Caicos French Village

French Village Hotel Room

The hotel room that my family stayed in had a large bed, as well as a trundle bed. There was also a tv and a stocked mini fridge. The bathroom was slightly smaller and got a bit humid sometimes, but it was a generally nice accommodation, and the little time we spent in it was nice.

The Italian Village

The Italian is another village at Beaches Turks and Caicos. It is fairly close to the water park and incredibly close to the beach. Also, the Italian Village is the closest village to the water sports center. If my family and I were to stay at this resort in the future, it is likely that we would book a room within the Italian.

Caribbean, Seaside, and Key West

Each of these villages is nice in their own way, with plenty of different restaurants and a closeness with the beach. Although my family and I didn’t spend a whole lot of time in and around these villages while staying at Beaches Turks and Caicos, we did get a good look at some of the beautiful buildings, villas, and pools.

Food and Dining

You’re never bound to go hungry while staying at Beaches Turks and Caicos. The resort has many restaurants of varying flavors. There are also some food trucks and smaller shacks located around the resort.

Neptunes

Neptunes is a Mediterranean seafood restaurant and the best restaurant at Beaches Turks and Caicos by far. My entire family would agree with me. This restaurant is located in Key West Village, and can also be found at the Beaches Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Although it is a long walk to from the French Village, we ate there for multiple breakfasts. Although we never stopped by Neptunes for dinner, I will say that the dinner menu looked quite tasty.

Breakfast at Neptunes is not to be missed out on. Neptunes has a fantastic breakfast menu consisting of delicious pancakes, French toast, and, my favorite, avocado toast. The first time we ate breakfast here, I ordered a Mediterranean dish that was not particularly enjoyable. Afterward, I tried the avocado toast from my mom’s plate, and it immediately became my breakfast the next day, and the day after that. I can honestly say that the avocado toast at Neptunes is the best I’ve ever had.

Breakfast at Beaches Turks and Caicos at Neptunes

For lunch, my mom and I grabbed gyros. We also ordered spinach and artichoke dip, as well as hummus. If I were to pick between the two, I believe I’d choose the spinach and artichoke dip. The hummus was just too plain. The gyros made for a decent lunch, although I wish we’d decided to try some of their other lunch options as well.

Bobby Dee’s

Bobby Dee’s is a restaurant at Beaches Turks and Caicos located within the water park. My brother ate half of his meals here because all he ever wanted to eat was a bacon cheeseburger. I myself grabbed some fries from Bobby Dee’s every once in a while. They also have milkshakes, smoothies, and pizza. As you can imagine, there were many happy children within the restaurant most of the day.

Kimonos

Kimonos is a nice restaurant that serves up oriental food in a fun and entertaining style. It is very close to the waterpark, tucked behind Soy, the sushi place. Chefs cook your food right in front of you, sing bombastically with the other chefs in the restaurant, and perform cool tricks with food and kitchen utensils. My family and I had a great time catching food in our mouths and singing along with our lively chef. There is also a Kimonos restaurant at Beaches Negril.

Keep in mind that Kimonos does require you to book reservations beforehand.

Bella Napoli

This small pizzeria is located further down the beach in the Caribbean Village. Bella Napoli serves delicious wood-fired pizza. I enjoyed my lunch at Bella Napoli’s, but I must warn you to be careful. I practically burned off the roof of my mouth because I was too impatient to let the pizza cool down.

SoySoy Sushi at Beaches Turks and Caicos

If you love sushi, you’re going to love Soy, located next to Kimonos in the French Village at Beaches Turks and Caicos and Beaches Negril. Soy is a fantastic sushi bar that prepares delicious sushi rolls. My family ordered several large plates of food. We told ourselves to quit eating, but we just couldn’t help ourselves. Mom and I favorited the crunchy crab rolls, with the volcano roll as a second. My younger brother, Jonah, loved the volcano roll and somehow managed to eat more sushi than my mom and I combined.

Sky

The Sky Restaurant is a quiet rooftop restaurant that serves delicious cuisine. It is located in Key West Village, right next to Neptunes. My family tried out breakfast and dinner here, although you can only eat dinner at the Sky Restaurant if you’re sixteen or older. My mom lied and said that I was old enough. There were far fewer people eating dinner here when we visited, probably because families want to eat dinner together, so the restaurant was a peaceful environment to have a nice dinner.Sky Restaurant at Beaches Turks and Caicos

Sky serves seafood, and I ordered the halibut for dinner. We also ordered an appetizer of seafood gumbo and crab cakes. Everything was delicious, and I was very happy with my dinner.

Breakfast was a bit different, only because of the intense heat. It was hard to enjoy my eggs benedict with the sun beating down and the humidity making everything feel sticky. The food was still good, although I prefer my avocado toast in the shade at Neptunes.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Water park

Pirates Island Water Park

All of the Beaches resorts have a water park within them, but the one at Beaches Turks and Caicos is by far much larger than the one at Beaches Negril. Tucked between the French Village and the Italian, Pirates Island water has four main waterslides, a large lazy river, as well as a section small play area in the center, and an area located near Bobby Dee’s with a few smaller slides, a whirlpool, and a pool bar. Alongside it is a surf simulator where kids can learn to surf. Most of the kids don’t return to it after their first couple of tries for fear of face planting. It’s a kids activity where the instructor has more fun than the kids. Every time a kid got off the board, or fell off, the instructor would hop on and glide around like a pro. He was quite good.

Sunset at Beaches Turks and Caicos

The Beach

The beach was lovely and picturesque, with soft white sand and blue waters. Currently considered the number one beach in the world, I had myself a good time, with or without my family. It felt so relaxing to stop at the bar and grab a cold, sweet, non-alcoholic drink and continue down to the sand. I tallied up many hours of sunbathing and reading on our vacation.

Beaches resorts also have floating rings in the water, so you can sit around in the ocean talking, drink in hand. Although relaxing, I’d recommend that you avoid them on windy days, unless you like getting bumped around on the waves. This is what my mom and I experienced near the end of our trip. The bumping and swaying were funny at first, but it was only getting worse. Our drinks couldn’t handle it, so we waded back to the sand before we could spill chocolate shake and mojito into the ocean.

Staying in the Italian, Carribean, or Key West villages will put you very close to the beach. Unfortunately, the French Village is a bit of a walk from the shore. The walk from our hotel room to the beach is one of the only complaints I have about the entire resort.

Beach Activities

Aside from the great opportunity for peaceful sunbathing and relaxation, you can also partake in many different water activities, or sign up for a boat tour. You can do this by signing up at the water sports center or the shack on the beach near the water sports center. This shack also rents equipment, like the paddleboards and water bikes we used.

My family played around with paddleboards, water bikes, and we also went out for a short ride on a Hobie cat. Paddleboarding was fine, although I’d definitely go on a much less windy day. It wasn’t much fun the day we went paddleboarding because of the strong winds and relatively large waves. The Hobie cat was relaxing, but if you’re looking for something more thrilling, give it a pass. The water bikes were slow and squeaky. They look so fun, but in the end, they’re nothing but a silly spectacle. If I were to return to Beaches Turks and Caicos, I would definitely give the kayaks a try.

Snuba at Beaches Negril

We also signed up for a glass bottom boat tour. Perhaps there’s fish and coral to see in other parts of the Carribean, but there was nothing but bare ocean floor on this glass bottom boat tour. If you’re planning on signing up for the glass bottom boat, don’t.

Beaches Turks and Caicos also offers snorkeling and snuba/scuba diving, but these activities come with a pretty hefty overall price. For this reason, my family did not sign up for any of these activities, although we have done snuba diving at Beaches Negril in the past.

Beaches-Turks-and-Caicos

Other Fun Activities

Beaches Turks and Caicos also has beach volleyball, basketball, soccer, ping pong, tennis, croquet, and other activities. Although I spent my time at the beach and at the pool, there’s also a club for the kids and teenagers with ping pong, air hockey, and other games. The kids club offers a great number of opportunities for kids to participate in special kids-only activities, such as snorkeling. Alongside the kids club, there was also an Xbox play lounge. My brother spent half of his vacation playing video games.

Events & Entertainment

Parties and other events take place all around Beaches Turks and Caicos at different times of the week. The French Village has a stage where talented performers put on shows that include acrobatics, song, and dance. If you feel like satiating your sweet tooth, there’s a small chocolate dessert party in the French Village.

Mad Hatter Party at Beaches Turks and Caicos
The dessert display at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Beaches Turks and Caicos

The Italian Village hosts water aerobics. We found this out when walking past the pool and finding a large group of people mimicking the movements of an instructor. At the time, Halloween was coming close, so the Italian Village also hosted a Halloween pool party. They played fun Halloween music and held games.

The biggest event my family and I attended was a special Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. The party was held at nighttime, with blacklights, incredible dessert displays, and a few large arts and crafts stations, where you could get body paint and make your own crazy hat. It was a spectacular party with a lively DJ and plenty of dancing. We had a great time!

Beaches Turks and Caicos
Beaches Turks and Caicos

Beaches Turks and Caicos is a paradise that one should definitely take into consideration for future vacations. Of course, I see no reason for someone to deny a trip to one of Beaches’ other beautiful resorts, such as Beaches Negril. Both are fantastic, but Beaches Turks and Caicos is far larger, so it holds more restaurants and recreation areas. Either way, guests at Beaches are set for a great, food and sun-filled vacation.

The state capital and administrative center of the Turks and Caicos is Cockburn Town. On the west side of Grand Turk, which is the second-most populated island in the Turks and Caicos, there is a small coastal town of Cockburn Town.

This small town is named in honor of the governor in the Bahamas in the early 18th century, Francis Cockburn. Cockburn Town is the earliest known permanent settlement in the country. It was first established by sea salt producers from Bermuda in 1681. Later, many other European territories in the Caribbean, like Kingston and Nassau, were found.

About Cockburn Town

In Cockburn Town, which is on the 6-mile-long Grand Turk Island, you can find a small Caribbean paradise that is easy to find on foot. Many exciting things can be found on Duke and Front Street, the two principal streets of this town. They also have a lot of restaurants, the National Museum of Turks and Caicos Islands, and an ancient and famous shipwreck in the western region called Molasses Reef Wreck. There are miles of sugary sandy beaches where you can dive, snorkel, or sail in the azure waters. In the area, there are also some of the best all-inclusive resorts for adults in Turks and Caicos and in the Caribbean.

The Heritage and Architecture of Cockburn Town

Sea salt from Grand Turk, Salt Cay, and South Caicos was the main reason the town flourished. People who lived there at the time when salt was worth a lot of money were able to use the natural shallow ponds in the Turks and Caicos to evaporate ocean water. When salt was exported, it made money, and people needed places to live, and this is how Cockburn Town was born.

It was prevalent for the older constructions in the community to look significantly like the British Colonial Bermudian design. Typically, these buildings were built with formed limestone blocks that were mortared together, with smooth plasters on the inside and outside to keep the soft limestone from decaying. In most cases, the early settlers of this town would use wood planks to make the roof and floor of the house. Today, they have been turned into villas and inns after they have been restored and made look good again.

Cockburn Town was often profoundly affected by hurricanes as a low-lying tropical coastal town. Every decade or two, the town had to be mostly rebuilt from the ground up. Many buildings were destroyed, and many ships were sunk by the September 1866 Hurricane, which also washed away a quarter million kg of sea salt that was prepared to be shipped. Then again, in 2008, Hurricane Ike did a lot of damage. Some of it is still being repaired, and it’s still going on today.

Discovering Cockburn Town

And because Cockburn Town is the oldest town and the center of government in the Turks and Caicos Islands, it definitely has the most personality of all the places in the country.

The historical part of Cockburn Town is not very huge. Most of the sights are on either Queen Street or Front Street, about a mile (1.6 km) following the shoreline, both of which run next to the beach. The stunning Cockburn Town Beach can be observed at many sights together across Queen, Front, and Duke Street.

It’s recommended and best to start at Duke Street on the southern end of Cockburn Town and travel north on this coastline. Vacation villas and a few small inns and restaurants are the main things you’ll see in this area.

The road Duke Street and Queen Street merge after about half a mile. Queen Street is next to the ocean. But after a close walk, Queen Street turns into Front Street at a point the beach can’t be seen. Queen Street and Front Street used to be the places where important government buildings were constructed in Turks and Caicos.

Gift and souvenir shops can be found near Her Majesty’s Prison and at the northernmost tip of Front Street.

Things to do in Cockburn Town

Scuba Diving

Grand Turk is a great place to dive, with some of the best reefs and walls in the tropical Atlantic. Today, most of the visitors to Grand Turk are from cruise ships. Before the Grand Turk Cruise Center opened, the island was mostly known for its diving tourism.

If you go on a typical cruise from the east coast of the United States, Grand Turk is the best place to go scuba diving in any of the Caribbean ports you visit.

One of the most important things about diving in Grand Turk, there is so much variety and composition of marine life at each site on the reefs.

You’ll see lots of friendly Nassau groupers and other fish like garden eels, parrotfish, spiny lobster, stingrays, trumpetfish, yellowtails, wrasse and blue tangs, and angelfish. It feels like you’re swimming in an aquarium.

Bright and healthy coral can be found, and there are a lot of hard and soft corals and sponges to look at.

Charter a Boat

One way to see the beautiful waters, beaches, and reefs of Grand Turk is on a boat. There are a lot of boats to choose from, including sailing yachts and party boats with a lot of space and shade.

There is a lot of tourism on Grand Turk that comes from cruise ships, so when a cruise ship is in town, the most popular boat tours may be full.

If you want to book a trip on a local boat, you can now do so through the cruise line, but you can still book directly with a local watersports company, too.

One of the most popular cruise destinations from Grand Turk is Gibbs Cay, which is a small stingray sanctuary.

This island is small and not occupiable. It is a few miles off the east coast of Grand Turk.

In the Gibbs Cay, friendly southern brown stingrays flock to meet boats and people. There aren’t many chances to get up close and personal with large marine animals in their natural habitat. You’ll be able to see and snorkel with the stingrays.

When the winter months are over, you might be able to snorkel with humpback whales that are migrating from January to April. There’s no guarantee that you’ll meet a fish in the water, but if it does, it will be a memory you’ll never forget. If you want to have the best chance of having a snorkeling encounter, you should go on a private or small group cruise instead.

Snorkeling

If you want to go snorkeling on the beach, you won’t find many good places on Grand Turk. The reefs around the island are full of color and beauty, but they’re either too deep for snorkeling or too far off the coast to be safe to swim out to. As a qualified diver, think about going on a dive trip to some of Grand Turk’s best dive sites and the wall.

Many of the main beaches have rocky areas off of them. However, these areas don’t have much to offer except for a few reef fish. You probably won’t see the coral, sea fans, bigger fish, and other sea creatures that make the Turks and Caicos reefs so beautiful.

If the ocean is relaxed, Boaby Rock Point is the best place on the island to snorkel. As long as you can deal with the enormous amounts of seaweed and debris on the beach, you’ll get to see really wonderful sea life in the shallow water. A lot of fish, coral, and sea fans are found near the site. On the east coast, this beach is constantly blown by the east-southeast trade winds and can be rough at times.

Governor’s beach is the most popular place to “snorkel” because it’s easy to get to and because it’s also a great beach. Close to the beach, you can find rocks from a jetty that was long ago gone. Red sea fans and small reef fish are the main things to see.

There are a lot of places on Cockburn Town Beach and English Point where old coral shelves and gully formations are close to the shore. In these places, there isn’t much to see in the waters.

North of Pillory Beach, there are still some old coral formations and features that you can see. The variety and abundance of sea life that you can find at other west coast beach sites are the same.

Whale Watching

Even though you might not think so at first, you can see humpback whales on Grand Turk during the winter months of January to April.

Humpback whales migrate from the northern Atlantic to the north of the Caribbean every year to give birth and mate.

A deep channel separates the Turk Islands and the Caicos Islands on this large subterranean shelf. Most of the shelf is shallow. Because of this passage, whales are pushed through and end up very close to Grand Turk.

There is a chance that you’ll get to go snorkeling with the whales, even though it isn’t sure. We strongly recommend grabbing the opportunity of this if you get to.

One of the most impressive things about snorkeling with humpback whales isn’t even seeing one of the giant marine mammals. It’s just being able to see the turquoise ocean from underneath the surface.

It looks dark navy blue on the boat, but when you go underwater, the water changes to a bright blue and lighter shade because the sun reflects off of it. More rays can be seen in the depths on sunny days.

There is a chance that humpback whales may act in a way that is not easy to predict. Do not start chasing or get too close to whales. As you should do with all animals, don’t bother or bother the whales. And, of course, whenever you’re in the water, wear a snorkel vest.

Horseback Riding

Great for water sports, horseback riding adds a little bit of the ocean to what is usually thought to be a land sport.

Rides on most beaches, like Pillory Beach, Governor’s Beach, and East Side Beach, give you the chance to walk in the crystal-clear coastal waters.

Costs start at about $70 per person for children and $85 for adults. It’s possible to book a tour through your cruise line or on your own. When you make a reservation, make sure you know when you’ll arrive and which vessel you’ll be on.

According to whether or not you want to swim in the ocean, the clothes you should wear while riding vary.

You should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes when you will only ride on land.

If you plan to ride in the ocean, flip-flops and long pants that won’t get wet are best.

To protect yourself from the sun’s rays, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are all good things to have. People who want to stay out of the sun should wear long-sleeved rash guards or synthetic shirts.

You can bring a small camera, but it is not recommended to bring bigger ones. Remember, there is a chance for damage to the electronic devices because of the water.

Kiteboarding

West coast sites like the Cruise Center Beach, Governor’s Beach, Cockburn Town Beach, and Pillory Beach are beautiful beaches. However, they aren’t usually good for kiteboarding because the typical east trade winds that blow offshore don’t make it safe.

As a result, the beaches on the east coast are better for water sports. They don’t have a lot of people, which can be a good thing because they don’t have a lot of people around the Cruise Center.

Generally, the windward islands of Grand Turk, Salt Cay, and South Caicos tend to match the weather forecast a little better than the central islands of the Caicos Islands do.

Storms and hurricanes can make the wind go in a different direction. In this case, the beautiful beaches and surf spots on the west coast may be the best place to kite.

For kiters who want to get the most out of their trip on a cruise ship, they need to do some research and plan ahead. To start, check the wind forecast to see if it’s worth it to go out and try.

Rental cars sound good for your trip. You’ll be able to check out places where you can fly a kite, and if the wind isn’t blowing, you’ll be ready to see the sights and beaches of Grand Turk.

On the other hand, there isn’t a lot of technical support for kiteboarding on Grand Turk. There aren’t any organized schools or instructors. People who want to learn how to kiteboard must come to Providenciales, where all the schools and rental shops are. You can rent everything you need there, from kites to boards to lines.

Cockburn Town Weather and Climate

At less than 100 miles (160 km) across, the Turks and Caicos is a small country. The Turks and Caicos Islands aren’t very different from one another when it comes to weather.

Because Cockburn Town and Grand Turk are close to the eastern trade winds, they get less cloud cover and rain than the Caicos Islands. This dry and sunny weather was ideal for making sea salt.

How to Prepare for Snorkeling with Kids

You must be well-prepared before hitting the water with your kids. Below are some tips to help make your experience a safe and enjoyable one:

Make sure your child is comfortable in the water

If they are not confident in the water, it will be difficult for them to enjoy themselves. Make sure they know how to swim and are comfortable in the water before taking them snorkeling. Also don’t forget the inflatable life vest for kids, which can give them a sense of security in the water.

350

Teach your child about snorkeling safety

Before heading out into open water, make sure you have talked to your child about basic safety precautions such as not going too deep, swimming with a buddy, and what to do if they see someone in trouble.

Provide plenty of practice time

Just like with anything else, practice makes perfect. Get your child used to the feel and weight of the snorkel gear before hitting the water. This will help them stay comfortable in open water.

Make sure they are wearing sunscreen

The sun can be harsh on unprotected skin, even more so when you’re swimming. Make sure your child is wearing sunscreen with a high SPF to protect them from the sun’s rays. Also, be sure to reapply sunscreen throughout the day.

Bring plenty of water and snacks

Kids can get hungry and thirsty quickly, especially when they’re swimming and playing. Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks on hand to keep them hydrated and fed.

Have fun!

The most important thing is to have fun. Snorkeling with your kids can be a great way to spend time together and create memories that will last a lifetime. Don’t forget the waterproof camera and you’ll be able to capture all the memories of your trip.

Conclusion

Snorkeling with kids is a great way to spend some quality family time and get them interested in the underwater world. If you’re looking for some great places to do this, then check out the list above. These are some of the best snorkeling spots with kids around the world.

But make sure to do your research before you go and be aware of any dangers that may be present in these locations. With a bit of preparation, you can have a great time snorkeling with your family and explore some amazing underwater worlds together.

By the time I got home from Beaches Turks and Caicos I was regretting not doing more research before our trip. Now don’t get me wrong, we had an amazing trip. But just imagine how much more amazing it would have been if I had been armed with more information. I do not normally call myself out for being ill-prepared, but this is not a cheap vacation and I want you to get as much as possible out of your own visit here. With that in mind, here are the specific things I wish I had known before we arrived.Beaches Turks and Caicos

Pick out which part of the resort you want to stay in.

Before you book your room you need to know which part of the resort is best for your family. There are four different sections to choose from at Beaches Turk and Caicos and when you are booking you have the chance to pick out the best location for you.

  • French Riviera: French Riviera is the furthest from the beach, but close to the kid’s club, teen club, and water park. From our room, it was just a few steps to the water park. This section of the resort is quiet and also the cheapest.
  • Key West: Key West is the most expensive area and is much quieter than the other three areas.
  • Italian Village: From what I observed, this is the heart of the resort and has the most going on at any given time. This is where we would stay next time.
  • Caribbean: Beach views over here and way nicer rooms.

Utilize Pre Check-In

You can check-in before you arrive to save time. I really wish I had known this. When we checked in there was a man in there throwing an adult size fit over something minor. He went on and on and on. I watched as the staff member calmly helped him, but it took a long time. That guy cost us half an hour.

Know-How the Teen and Tween Club Workimg 4361

Sadly, we didn’t figure the teen and tween programs until the last day and it would have made a massive difference to have known this from the beginning. I knew there was a kid’s club and I knew there was some type of tween program, but neither were explained to me. I did have to sign Jonah up for the tween program and show his passport to prove his age. I assumed this was so he could go into the tween/teen building, but apparently, there was more. I should have asked for some information signing him up. There is a bulletin board right outside the tween/teen hangout building with a schedule of activities.Teen Club at Beaches Turks and Caicos

Know Where to Eatimg 4249

All the food here is pretty good, but I definitely have a few places you must eat at for certain meals. Keep in mind, I didn’t even come close to eating at all 21 restaurants, since I didn’t even know there were 21 restaurants. I just found out that they have an Indian restaurant and two buffets I missed. (Did I mention this resort is massive?)

  • Neptunes: Best breakfast at the resort is found at Neptunes. We ended up eating here every morning for breakfast because it was that good! Plus, the views of the ocean are wonderful. That’s the food pictured about.
  • Soy: Sushi at Soy is one of the best places for dinner at Beaches. Try to go as soon as you get there that way if you love it you can eat there again.Soy Sushi at Beaches Turks and Caicos
  • Sky Restaurant: Open for breakfast for anyone and for dinner for those 16 and older. If you have an evening without kids or your kids are older have dinner here. It is a lovely place to eat in the evening. If you are single like me that means you can really eat here cause your kids can’t eat with you. (I can neither confirm nor deny that I lied about one of the kid’s ages to eat here.) Sky Restaurant at Beaches Turks and Caicos
  • Kimonos: This is a Japanese steakhouse where they cook the food right in front of you. They will let you try and catch shrimp in your mouth. It’s quite fun and I consider it a must while staying here. I believe this is the only restaurant on the property that requires a reservation. Kimonos at Beaches Turks and Caicos
  • Bobby Dee’s: This is where you can get cotton candy. You will see kids with cotton candy and your child will be begging for it, so that’s my best tip! My youngest son ate almost every meal here. Kids can just walk up and get whatever they need like burgers and fries. It’s close to the waterpark, so if your kid is hanging out over here you will likely end up eating here.
  • Bella Napoli: The pizza is excellent, but it takes forever! Be sure to have something to do while you wait or get it to go.
  • Jerk Shack: Located pretty far to the end of the resort it’s more than worth venturing over to. It may not look or sound like much but it is so GOOD! The best jerk chicken sandwich I’ve ever had was here. There are some great hammocks located down here in the shade.
  • Curls N Swirls – An ice cream truck next to the water park.
  • Mac N Cheese Truck – A mac n cheese food truck also next to the water park.

No Kid Restaurants

A big issue for me was the no kids allowed restaurants like Sapodilla’s. I’m a single mom traveling with my kids, which meant that there were some restaurants I couldn’t eat at unless I went by myself. I personally am not into dining alone while on a family vacation.

Restaurants close early

Almost all the restaurants close by 9:30 P.M. so you need to make sure you plan accordingly. The last thing you want to happen is missing dinner.

No Room Service

Most all-inclusive resorts offer room service, but this is not the case at Beaches. They do replenish drinks in the mini-fridge every day and when you check in you can select a bottle of wine to be brought to your room.

Ask for a resort tour

When you arrive, ask for a tour. I was in a hurry to make a water activity when I checked in, so I didn’t get any kind of tour, nor did I ask for a tour. I think if I had not been in a hurry, they would have given me way more information.

Sign up in advance for included water activities.img 4017

It can be difficult to get signed up for the water activities. You have to sign up in person. They take sign-ups for the next day starting each morning at 7 AM. This means you need to get up early and head down to the scuba area and sign up for the glass bottom boat and snorkeling the day before you want to go. I never managed to get us signed up for the glass bottom boat, but I stood nearby to see if we could get a spot if someone was a no show and we managed to get one.

Walk-up water activitiesBeaches Turks and Caicos Water Activities

There are other activities that do not require advance registration, including kayaks, windsurfing, paddle-boarding, Hobie cats, and water bikes. You do not need to know how to use the Hobie cat, a worker will take you out and back.

Good snorkeling nearby

If you do not get on a snorkel tour you can still check out a snorkel set and life jackets. Head to the end of the beach past the Jerk Shack where you will find really good snorkeling.

Water trampoline not included

Out in front of the resort is a water trampoline. Myself and my friend let our boys swim out there to play on it. They played for a while until a boat pulled up and told them they had to pay $80 to use it. Because of the location, I assumed this was part of Beaches, but it is not.

Snuba also not included

Snuba is a super cool experience and we all love it, but here it isn’t free. I cannot remember how much it costs, I just recall it was going to be around $300 for the three of us to do. Needless to say, we skipped it this trip.

There’s a nurse on-site

I had no idea there was a nurse on-site. I threw my back out the day after we arrived and there was not a whole lot I could do about it. Had I known there was a nurse, I would have headed there immediately.

Ask for a golf cart to take you somewhere

The resort is massive, much bigger than Beaches Negril. There were times when I didn’t want to walk all the way across the resort. If you go to the lobby of the section you are staying in they will call a golf cart over to take you where you want to be.

Tennis Clinics

Apparently, they offer tennis clinics for adults and teens. Had I known this Eden and I would have done this at least once.

Bring a FloatieBeaches Turks and Caicos Pool Party

Okay, I should have known better than to not show up with my own floatie. I always bring one, but this time I did not.

Autism Friendly

IBCCES Advisory Board: They address lots of issues, not just autism. They address all types of cognitive disorders like ADHD, dementia, and more. Beaches reached out to them to help them create a program/environment that is autism-friendly. They made sure that everyone on their staff is trained, from the employees that answer booking calls to the employees that actually work with kids. They have also incorporated Julia, the Sesame Character with autism.

Get Travel Insurance

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flights

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner! Another option for finding deals is FlightHub.

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass, PogoPass, and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Get a Lyft

More often than not, Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase.

Get a Visa

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.
