You could not have wished for a more fascinating place in which to witness a historic celebration. Offbeat museums and attractions, and lots of fun ideas, something for everyone to explore

Hidden Gems in New York City

New York City is not where you roam around as a tourist in a car when you’ve been there a couple of times. Even if you are from there your whole life, you still don’t know the little things you have to explore and that are worth seeing.

As Christmas is at the doorstep, places to go for Christmas in the USA become the default holiday destination. Christmas lights, Christmas markets, and an authentic Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. It attracts a lot of tourists worldwide.

Join Locals Spotted and discover New York’s best-kept secrets! From Brooklyn’s best-kept secrets jazz clubs to lower Manhattan’s best-kept secrets art. Let’s experience the city’s best-kept secrets.

Morris-Jumel Mansion

Morris-Jumel Mansion

It was constructed in 1765 for the Morris family and is Manhattan’s oldest continuously occupied house. The old mansion, now a museum of the modern world, rests in Washington Heights. It even served as General George Washington’s headquarters during the Revolutionary War! It is a joy to behold, too, because it runs parallel literally to hip as a June bug Sylvan Terrace of historic old wooden townhouses.

Sylvan Terrace

Jumel Terrace Historic District Sylvan Terrace from west

Cobblestone Sylvan Terrace street is lined with preserved 1900s historic row homes. Street now, landmark, historic horse-drawn tour to Morris-Jumel Mansion. Stop when you drive by and soak it in, and be sure to share your experience with other wanna-be travellers who will pick up on stopping and soaking it in. Be careful of the residents there when crossing over to look at this street, because people are actually living in these houses.

The Met Cloisters

The Met Cloisters, NY (1)

While NYC’s greatest museum is The Met, its lesser-known counterpart, The Cloisters, isn’t something to be forgotten. In fact, it’s sort of a Washington Heights secret, one on the other side of the Hudson, in Fort Tryon Park. It’s a museum-castle containing George Barnard and John D. Rockefeller’s medieval art collection. The most famous are likely the Unicorn Tapestries of the 14th century. Some of the medieval monasteries of Europe are found in the complex, and an extremely high percentage of New York City’s population enjoys going here in an effort to gain admittance to a less populated and serene cultural experience.

Lotus Garden

If you’re on the Upper West Side on a Sunday afternoon between April & November, consider climbing the stairs to the roof of a parking garage on 97th Street. This beautiful community garden has been tended to by 28 families for many years and is now open to the public on Sundays. The garden is maintained by the gardeners and volunteers to keep this place beautiful.

Riverside Church

It boasts North America’s tallest church tower, on top of which is the 74-bell, 20-ton Rockefeller Memorial Carillon. Nave Sanctuary has carvings, engravings, and stained glass windows, and natives from across the USA come or reside here with an effort to make use of the facility as a snapshot of worship, culture, and community.

Museum at Eldridge Street

Eldridge Street was built in 1887. It used to be the first great house that was built by the Eastern European Jewish immigrants. The building is a blend of Moorish, Gothic, and Romanesque architecture. After many years, it was restored in 2007. Because the water drainage system of the museum was damaged, the structure was unstable, and plaster and glass were broken. This place hosts many events like educational programs and cultural festivals. Jewish women’s ornaments and paintings are displayed in the museum.

6 ½ Avenue

Sixth and a Half Avenue Looking North from 51st Street

Manhattan’s sole flubbed street! Pedestrian cross-over, which has been officially named even by a street sign, because it has been utilized as frequently as a mini neighborhood shortcut by the locals. I went there not knowing that it was even a street. Ring a bell like Hogwarts’ Platform 9 ½?

West Village

In the Lower Manhattan West Village, there is an ancient, scenic, and prosperous place. Once it was an artist and Bohemian place. Now it gives a sophisticated and decent atmosphere. The best village is also known for its three-line streets that don’t follow Manhattan’s block system. You can explore unique boutiques in Bleecker Street, enjoy the dancing scenes in neighborhood trendy restaurants, and experience the amazing nightlife in a jazz club or colourful bar areas.

Merchant’s House Museum

Merchant’s House Museum

This museum is located at 29 East 4th Street in Manhattan. This house is a wonderful survivor of old NewYork. All belongings of the Tredwell family are fully furnished in the museum. The architecture of the museum showcases the Greek Revival architecture. The house was designed by the architect Minard Lafever and Joseph Roberto.

The Treadwell family has lived in the house for almost 100 years, which gives a perspective of domestic life in NewYork. The merchant house is also known as one of New York’s most haunted houses. Some special facts about the merchant house are its largely unaltered room system, panelling, and stone chimney pieces. This property is now owned by an agency of the government of New South Wales.

Frick Collection

Frick Collection

The Frick collection is an art museum. It is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. To preserve the collection of industrialist Henry clay frick, it was established in 1935. The freak collection is all about 1800 works of fine and decorative art. The frick collection is a must-visit place; the masterpieces of Bellini, Vermeer, and Fragonard are well preserved there. Sometimes it gets crowded because it is small in size. All historic art pieces give examples of European sculptures.

Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island
Roosevelt Island

In the East River, Roosevelt Island is a narrow island. It is located between Manhattan and Queens. Native Americans first inhabited this island. There are many ancient buildings and ruins of the smallpox hospital on the island. Travellers can explore the Cornell Tech campus and the engineering school. There are many activities to do on the island, like sports and picnics. The island is a mixture of many parks and memorials. The famous Hollywood movie nighthawks was also filmed in Roosevelt Island.

Ground Zero Museum workshop

Ground Zero Museum workshop

This museum is located at 420 West 14 Street in NewYork. It was founded by Gary Marlin Suson. It shows the recovery period of the 9/11 attack. This museum includes 100 images of artifacts, the donated pieces from the attack that visitors can touch. This place is also kid-friendly. Non-graphic and mindful content plays in the museum, which is very overwhelming for the kids. You can also get a self-guided audio unit in the museum. Travelers find this place very emotionally powerful. Videos are not allowed there, but visitors can take photos of this place.

Tenement Museum

Tenement Museum

This museum is basically a cultural institution. It tells the stories of immigrants and refugees who lived in NewYork City. The museum has a collection of historic apartments of German, Italian, Jewish, and Chinese families. If you hire a tour guide, they will properly show the restored spaces and tell the stories of adapted life in America. This place is located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. For history lovers, this place is so fascinating.

Conclusion

New York City never fails to surprise us with its silly and humorous attractions. The city itself is actually a kind of blinding smorgasbord of life culture. It’s own wacky day trips, quirky museums, and tours; the city has something to offer all those who want more. All such tourists who visit there in search of variety, diversity, and a sense of wonder would never feel disappointed. You can enjoy this journey to the fullest. During festivals, visitors from all over the USA visit New York to see its stunning Christmas lights along with festival bazaars and other events, which also contribute to the amazing aspects of the city.

New York City, the place where you’ll walk ten miles a day, eat pizza at 2 a.m., and casually pass by the Empire State Building like it’s no big deal. It’s also a city that never sleeps, which might make some travelers wonder: where exactly are the safest places to stay?

Good news: despite its reputation from ‘90s movies, NYC today has a violent crime rate and property crimes level that’s significantly lower than the national average for major U.S. cities. That being said, some New York neighborhoods are definitely safer (and more convenient) than others. So whether you’re a first-time visitor, a nervous parent sending your kid to the Bronx Zoo or Yankee Stadium, or just someone who prefers tree-lined streets over the chaos of Times Square, I’ve rounded up the best neighborhoods with a low crime rate, excellent subway lines, and easy access to all the main attractions.

1. Upper East Side: Museum Mile and Classy Calm

Metropolitan Museum of Art
Metropolitan Museum of Art

If you like your safety served with a side of elegance, the Upper East Side is one of the safest neighborhoods in NYC. Known for Madison Avenue, Museum Mile, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this is the perfect place if you want a safe neighborhood with luxury hotels, chic boutiques, and plenty of green spaces.

You’ll also be just a few blocks from Central Park, which means you can spend your mornings wandering the best things nature has to offer without leaving Manhattan. Plus, the tree-lined streets make you feel like you’re in a residential bubble far away from the hustle.

Best hotels in this area include The Mark and The Carlyle—if your wallet allows.

 • The Mark Hotel – Modern luxury with over-the-top suites and a location just steps from Central Park. If it’s good enough for Meghan Markle, it’s good enough for you.
 • The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel – Classic NYC glamour with white-glove service and a piano bar where you may casually rub elbows with celebrities.

2. Upper West Side: Family-Friendly and Safe

Central Park NYC

On the other side of Central Park, the Upper West Side is another great place with a low crime rate and tons of cultural gems. Think the American Museum of Natural History, Lincoln Center, and Riverside Park stretching along the Hudson River.

It’s a safe place for families, with residential neighborhoods full of brownstones and playgrounds. You’re also within walking distance of Broadway shows if you’re up for a stroll.

If you’re traveling with kids, this might be the right place—it balances access to tourist attractions with a quieter vibe.

 • Hotel Beacon – A favorite among families thanks to its apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes. Bonus: right near a subway station.

3. Greenwich Village & West Village: Trendy Yet Secure

Greenwich Hotel Shibui Spa

The Greenwich Village and West Village duo are where bohemian charm meets safest areas living. With their tree-lined streets, quirky cafés, and iconic spots like the Stonewall Inn and Washington Square Park, these are among the best neighborhoods for those who want a safe neighborhood without sacrificing nightlife.

Expect more young professionals, fewer tourists, and a good idea of what it’s like to live like real New Yorkers. You’re still close to subway stations, so public transportation is easy.

Pro tip: skip the car—parking here is harder than snagging a table at Chelsea Market on a Saturday.

Walker Hotel Greenwich Village – Boutique style, art deco interiors, and just a short walk from Union Square and the East Village.

The Jane Hotel – Quirky and historic, with ship cabin–inspired rooms and a reputation for being a great place for budget-conscious travelers.

4. Midtown Manhattan: Convenient and Busy (But Safe!)

Concorde-Hotel-New-York-City-1024x1024

If you’re one of those first-time visitors who want to check every box—Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Bryant Park, the Museum of Modern Art, and Fifth Avenue shopping—then Midtown Manhattan is your home base.

Yes, it’s crowded, and yes, it can feel like a tourist trap, but the area is still one of the safest neighborhoods thanks to constant activity and a visible police presence. The crime here is mostly petty (watch your wallet around Penn Station and Grand Central Station).

It’s also filled with luxury hotels and hotel rooms with easy access to the subway lines. Plus, you’ll never run out of best things to see.

 • The Peninsula New York – Located on Fifth Avenue, with a rooftop bar, spa, and some of the city’s most indulgent luxury hotels vibes.
 • Concorde Hotel New York – My current favorite due to how quiet our stay was and how large our room was! Plus, it’s walkable to Fifth Avenue and Times Square.

5. Battery Park City: A Quiet Slice of Downtown Manhattan

Tucked along the Hudson River in lower Manhattan, Battery Park City is one of the cleanest, safest, and most underrated spots in NYC. With its green spaces, residential neighborhoods, and walking distance to the World Trade Center, it feels like a calm oasis compared to the buzz of Wall Street just blocks away.

It’s also a safe place for those who like running paths, riverfront dining, and quick access to the Staten Island Ferry. If you want proximity to downtown Manhattan attractions like Little Italy and Chinatown while still being in a safe neighborhood, this is it.

Conrad New York Downtown – Spacious hotel rooms, river views, and modern art throughout the property.

6. Brooklyn Heights & Park Slope: Safe and Scenic

Brooklyn Bridge

If you’re open to staying outside Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights is one of the best areas in the borough. With its brownstones, promenade views of the Brooklyn Bridge and East River, and a low crime rate, it’s a great place for families and couples.

Nearby Park Slope also scores high on the safest neighborhoods list, thanks to Prospect Park, cafés, and tree-lined streets filled with strollers and dogs.

These neighborhoods have easy access to subway stations, making the commute to midtown Manhattan or downtown Manhattan painless.

 • 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – A great place with eco-friendly design, rooftop pool, and panoramic views of the East River and skyline.
 • NU Hotel Brooklyn – A boutique stay near Atlantic Avenue with modern style and a location perfect for exploring both Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope.

7. Murray Hill & Kips Bay: Central and Safe for Young Professionals

If you’re traveling with friends or just want a safe neighborhood near Grand Central Terminal, Murray Hill and Kips Bay are popular with young professionals. Both neighborhoods offer easy access to Midtown’s main attractions without the chaos of Times Square.

They’re also filled with mid-range hotel rooms and plenty of food options. It’s a good idea for anyone wanting central convenience at a more manageable price point than uptown.

 • Pod 39 Hotel – Budget-friendly, stylish, and featuring a rooftop bar with skyline views.

8. Long Island City: A Queens Gem

Summer Club at Ravel Hotel
Summer Club at Ravel Hotel

Across the East River from Manhattan, Long Island City has become one of the safest areas in Queens. With its skyline views, art galleries, and quick subway lines into Midtown, it’s a great place for budget-conscious travelers.

It also puts you close to MoMA PS1 (the edgier cousin of the Museum of Modern Art) and has plenty of newer luxury hotels with spacious hotel rooms.

 • Boro Hotel – A great place with minimalist design, balconies overlooking the skyline, and spacious hotel rooms at a lower price point than Manhattan.

Bonus: Other Notable Safe Areas

NYC Highline

 • Chelsea – Known for the High Line, art galleries, and Chelsea Market, this residential neighborhood has a relatively low crime rate and lots of luxury hotels.
 • Financial District – Close to Wall Street and the World Trade Center, this area is buzzing during the week and peaceful at night.
 • East Village & Lower East Side – Once gritty, now trendy with boutique hotels, union square proximity, and great places to eat. Still safe for savvy travelers.

Safety Tips for Staying in NYC

Even in the safest neighborhoods, it’s still smart to follow basic safety practices:

 • Stick near subway stations and well-lit areas at night.
 • Keep an eye on your stuff, especially in crowded spots like Times Square or Madison Square Garden.
 • Use public transportation instead of driving—trust me, finding parking near Madison Avenue or Houston Street will ruin your trip.

Why Safety Isn’t Everything

Here’s the thing: if you only pick your hotel by the violent crime rate or property crimes statistics, you’ll miss out on the magic of NYC. The best places to stay balance safety, easy access to main attractions, and a vibe that suits your style. Whether you want the quiet charm of Brooklyn Heights, the elegance of the Upper East Side, or the buzz of Midtown Manhattan, there’s no shortage of great options.

Final Thoughts: Finding the Perfect Place in NYC

New York has plenty of safest neighborhoods that double as the best neighborhoods for exploring the city. From Battery Park City’s calm waterfront to the cultural riches of the Upper West Side, the safest places also happen to be near tourist attractions, world-class museum mile stops like the Guggenheim Museum, and iconic landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge and High Line.

So don’t overthink it: pick the right place, book your hotel rooms, and get ready to explore the United States most exciting city. After all, the best things in NYC aren’t just the sights—they’re the unforgettable experiences of wandering different neighborhoods, bumping into New Yorkers, and realizing you’ve found your own safe place in the city that never sleeps.

I just got back from another incredible weekend in New York City with my daughter Eden who is a college student, and let me tell you — we packed a LOT into a couple of days. From Broadway to Brooklyn, museums to thrift stores, and some seriously good food along the way, here’s the full scoop (plus tips) if you’re planning your own NYC getaway with a college student.

Where We Stayed: The Concorde Hotel New York — A Hidden Gem

Concorde-Hotel-New-York-City-1024x1024
Photos by Meagan Wristen

We stayed at the Concorde Hotel New York and honestly, I think I’ve found my new go-to NYC hotel. It’s super boutiquey — only 44 rooms — which means it’s blissfully quiet (a rare find in Manhattan).

The location is perfect: it’s close to three subway stops, so getting around was a breeze. It’s also walkable to Fifth Avenue and Times Square — you know, for those moments when you feel like joining the tourist chaos.

But the real perks?
✅ 24-hour coffee and hot chocolate bar on one floor.
✅ A Nespresso machine in the room (yes, please).
✅ Both a bathtub AND a walk-in shower — because why settle for one when you can have both?
✅ Did I mention how quiet it was? I could actually sleep through the night — in New York City. Miracles do happen.

We had brunch at the hotel’s on-site restaurant, Bonsai, which was fabulous. Highly recommend the tapas-inspired dishes — it’s an elegant but low-key vibe.

Broadway Magic: &Juliet and Moulin Rouge

Moulin Rouge

No NYC trip is complete without Broadway, and we saw two incredible shows:

🎭 &Juliet — Joey Fatone (yes, that Joey Fatone from NSYNC) was in it, and he was surprisingly hilarious. The whole show is a fun, modern twist on Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, set to pop music. It’s exactly as ridiculous and fabulous as it sounds.

🎭 Moulin Rouge — If you haven’t seen it yet, RUN. It’s over-the-top in the best way possible — glitter, feathers, and some serious vocal talent. One thing that surprised me was the music. I thought the show would have a lot more french music. Instead it’s current popular music.

Museum Hopping: The Morgan Library, MoMA, and the Guggenheim

The Morgan Library

We spent some time pretending to be cultured and hit up some of NYC’s best museums:

🖼️ The Morgan Library – Think of it as the ultimate personal library (if your personal library happens to look like something straight out of Beauty and the Beast). It’s absolutely stunning and feels super intimate. No one family should be allowed to have some of the things we saw. They have not one but three Gutenberg Bibles printed by Johannes Gutenberg in 1455.

🖼️ MoMA – Modern art at its finest. Pro tip: they offer a student discount — Eden was thrilled about that one. (Most museums in the city offer a student discount.) I’m not super into modern art but was pleasantly surprised how many Picasos they had.

MOMA NYC

🖼️ Guggenheim – The building alone is a work of art. We wandered through the spiral, taking in modern masterpieces. Definitely worth the visit.

Sky-High Adventure at The Edge

The Edge NYC

If you want views that’ll make your stomach drop (literally), head to The Edge. It’s a triangular platform that juts out over the city, with glass floors that let you see all the way down. You know, if you’re brave enough to step on them (I was not).

But the view? Insane. You get a full panoramic shot of the city, the river, and beyond. We even played curling while we were there had cocktails and chicken and waffles. Because why not? Book tickets in advance.

Brooklyn Adventures: Bridges, Thrift Shops, and Yemeni Coffee

Brooklyn Bridge

We ventured over to Brooklyn because Eden, being the journalist that she is, wanted to get some epic city shots. She had heard that she could get great photos here.

📸 Brooklyn Bridge Park – Hands down, some of the best city views I’ve ever seen. You can walk right under the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, which makes for some killer photos.

👉 Pro tip: Take the subway to Brooklyn — it’s faster and cheaper than an Uber.

After freezing our faces off near the water, we popped into a massive food hall to warm up and grab coffee. You can find pretty much anything there, from dumplings to tacos.

thrifting in Brooklyn

Next stop: Williamsburg — which honestly reminds me of Portland, Oregon, with all its independent shops and cool coffee spots. We hit up a couple of thrift shops because apparently, it’s all about vintage right now:

🛍️ Monk Thrift Shop – Huge and multi-level, with tons of options.
🛍️ L Train Vintage – Also fantastic, and with multiple locations if you can’t make it to Williamsburg.

Qawah Yemeni Coffee Shop

And because we needed more caffeine, we tried Qawah Yemeni Coffee Shop — which was an experience. They brew the coffee over a stove in these little pots, add cardamom and spices, and you can order by the pot size. We got a medium, which was a mistake because I was vibrating by 4 p.m.

Where We Ate (and Loved)

🍳 Bonsai – Brunch at Concorde’s on-site restaurant was fantastic. You can’t beat convenience and good coffee. I have the avocado toast and Eden at hash brown sandwich.

BONSAII Tapas & Wine Bar

🍳 The Horny Ram – Such a cute, cozy brunch spot with great food. Definitely felt like a neighborhood place. Eden had the buffalo chicken nachoes with eggs and I had the huevos rancheros. They were both equally good and perfect for sharing.

🍕 Rosemary’s – We stopped in for an early dinner and it was adorable. We shared a pasta and a pizza — both were fantastic. The vibe was casual but chic — exactly what you want after a day of walking around the city.

🥙 Au Zatar – If you like Mediterranean food, this place is a must. Their shawarma is perfect for feeding 4 – 5. It comes out on a big skewer on top of a bed of french fries, and they carve it for you. Whatever yet get because sure to get the hummus it is next level.

Final Thoughts

This was one of those rare trips where everything just clicked — from the shows to the views to the food. If you’re heading to NYC, definitely check out the Concorde Hotel — it’s the perfect mix of quiet and convenience. And don’t sleep on Brooklyn for photos or vintage shopping — even if it means accepting that your kids now dress like extras from a ‘90s music video.

Get Travel Insurance

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flights

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner! Another option for finding deals is FlightHub.

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass, PogoPass, and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Get a Lyft

More often than not, Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase.

Get a Visa

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.

New York City, get ready—there’s a new fashion powerhouse in town, and it’s bringing international style straight to the heart of Soho at 515 Broadway. Urban Revivo has officially opened its first-ever U.S. store, and let’s just say, your wardrobes are about to level up. I had the opportunity to attend the grand opening today along with NYC artist James Huntley.

Urban Revivo Grand Opening NYC

If you haven’t heard of Urban Revivo yet, allow me to introduce you. Think of it as your new go-to for ultra-trendy, high-fashion looks without the designer price tag. Born in China in 2006 by CEO Mingguang L, Urban Revivo has been making waves across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, and now—finally—they’ve planted their stylish flag in NYC.

Urban Revivo Soho in NYC

Urban Revivo has rapidly ascended to become China’s leading fast-fashion brand. With over 380 retail stores across regions including Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, UR’s expansion into New York City signifies a bold step into the Western fashion scene. They have another US store planned for later this year.

Who is Urban Revivo For?Urban Revivo Soho

Short answer: Everyone who loves fashion but doesn’t want to spend their entire paycheck on one outfit.

Longer answer: While Urban Revivo’s primary audience comprises fashion-forward individuals its diverse collections cater to a wide array of styles and preferences. Urban Revivo caters to trendsetters, minimalists, maximalists, street-style queens, and anyone who appreciates a little runway drama in their everyday wardrobe. Whether you’re looking for the perfect oversized blazer, a chic dinner-date dress, or edgy streetwear that makes you feel like you belong at Fashion Week, this store has you covered.

Urban Revivo Soho NYC

More specifically if you’re a young professional seeking chic work attire, a trend-savvy teen, a mom trying to look effortlessly cool, a college student on a budget, a guy who appreciates tailored pieces, or someone looking to infuse a bit of contemporary flair into your wardrobe, Urban Revivo offers something for you.

The Soho Store ExperienceUrban Revivo NYC

Walking into the brand-new 30,000 sqft Urban Revivo store on Broadway in Soho feels like stepping into the future of fashion. Think sleek, modern interiors with racks of clothing that beg to be touched, tried on, and taken home. The collection is a mix of statement pieces and wardrobe essentials, and the price points are refreshingly reasonable for how luxe everything looks. Plus, the brand incorporated recycled material into its store design, reflecting a commitment to environmental consciousness.

Urban Revivo Soho

Some of my favorite finds from opening day?
✨ A structured white blazer that screams “power move”
✨ A shimmering silver mini dress perfect for NYC nights
✨ A cozy-but-chic oversized knit that feels like a warm hug but makes you look like a street-style star

Oh, and let’s talk about accessories—because Urban Revivo isn’t just about clothes. They’ve got bags and shoes that make any outfit pop. In the end, I went home with a new super flattering pair of light brown slacks, a flared white sleeveless shirt with bold ruffles, and an everyday elevated tee.

Why Urban Revivo is a Game-ChangerUrban Revivo Men's Soho

Soho has no shortage of shopping spots, but Urban Revivo brings something different to the table:
High fashion, but actually affordable
Fast-moving trends, but with quality that lasts
A mix of classic, bold, and futuristic styles—because why be boring?

With its global influence and fashion-forward aesthetic, Urban Revivo is bound to become a staple for NYC trendsetters and visitors alike.

Final Thoughts: Is it Worth the Hype?Urban Revivo Men's NYC

Absolutely. Whether you’re a fashion lover, a busy mom who wants to look effortlessly put together, or just someone who appreciates a good blazer, Urban Revivo is a must-visit. And hey, if you’re in Soho for some shopping, why not stop by a cute café and make a day of it? (Pro tip: Ladurée is just around the corner for a macaron break! 🍰)

If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then New York City is clearly the most important place to eat it. In a city that never sleeps (but definitely needs caffeine), the breakfast game is strong—whether you’re craving a classic bagel that’s better than anything you’ve ever had or a bougie brunch that’s basically an excuse for mimosas before noon. From hole-in-the-wall gems to Instagram-worthy hotspots, here’s where to start your day in NYC—because cereal at home just isn’t going to cut it.

Citizens Of Chelsea

If you’ve ever been to Australia then you know how beautiful the food creations are. So when I heard there was an Australian breakfast restaurant in Chelsea we had to go! I had the Green Goodess Shakshuka with a velvet latte and Eden had the BBQ Pulled pork benedict. Like many Aussie restaurants we had to sit with other people at a large shared seating table. Located in Chelsea at 401 W 25th St, New York, NY 10001.

Mom’s Kitchen and Bar

Mom's Kitchen and Bar in Hell's Kitchen NYC

Mom’s Kitchen and Bar has a small but interesting menu. They offer brunch all day, so if you stayed out too late the night before don’t despair, you can still get breakfast no matter what day of the week it is! We opted for the chicken and waffles, the pancake burrito made with scrambled eggs, sausage, cheddar, bacon, pancake wrap, and maple syrup, and the avocado toast so we could feel like we made a healthy choice. Mom’s Kitchen and Bar is located in Hell’s Kitchen at located at 701 9th Ave, New York, NY 10019.

The Horney Ram

The Horny Ram

They offer bottomless Bloody’s, Mimosa’s, Bellini’s or Pink Pony Club for 90 minutes for $28 per person. Eden got the buffalo chicken nachos with eggs and I had the juevos rancheros. Both were so good we ended up sharing. I found out while writing this that there’s a patio upstairs. The Horney Ram is located at 951 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10022.

Delmonico’s

Delmonico's for brunch

Brunch at Delmonico’s is a delightful affair. The place exudes old-world charm, and their Eggs Benedict could win awards in my opinion. The potatoes were quite good too. Get dressed up and splurge on a memorable meal. The outside of the building is neat too and you’ll definitely want to take photos out there. Located at 56 Beaver St.

Bonsaii Tapas

Eden had a hashbrowns sandwich and I had a burrata breakfast toast. Both were really delicious. Located inside the Concorde Hotel at 127 E 55th St, New York, NY 10022.

Clinton Hall

Clinton Hall has four locations around the city and one seasonal location over on Staten Island. They offer brunch every Saturday and Sunday until 4 PM. They have bottomless mimosa options, ranging from $20 to $30 per person. I made a healthy choice by opting for the birthday waffle and no, it wasn’t my birthday.

Malthouse

Malthouse NYC

The Malthouse has an excellent Sunday brunch with a bottomless cocktail option that moms of teens deserve, in my opinion! This restaurant is very close to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, which means after lunch you are ready to head there. They have a second location at in Greewich Village.

Jack’s Wife Freda

Jack's Wife Freda West Village (1)

A charming spot in SoHo serving up Mediterranean-inspired brunch fare with a side of whimsy. Enjoy their famous rosewater waffles or green shakshuka while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. They have three locations in the city.

Bus Stop Café

bus stop cafe

The West Village used to be full of adorable diners, but there aren’t as many as there used to be, and the food isn’t always spectacular at the ones that do exist. However, if you do want a delicious “diner-style” breakfast, stop at the Bus Stop Cafe. They can cook your eggs any way you like them and serve them up with the perfect breakfast sides. Located at 597 Hudson St, New York, NY 10014.

Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bagel on the go, a lavish brunch that requires a stretchy waistband, or just the perfect cup of coffee to survive the day, NYC has a breakfast spot with your name on it. This city takes morning meals to a whole new level, proving that breakfast isn’t just a meal—it’s a lifestyle. So go forth, fuel up, and start your day the way New Yorkers do: with great food, a little attitude, and absolutely no patience for bad coffee.

The post 17 Incredible Family Vacations appeared first on Mommy Travels.

]]>
Do you want to plan a trip that the whole family will enjoy, even the teenagers? Let’s face it, the easiest way to make any family vacation successful is to keep the kids happy! To get an idea of what kind of vacation a kid would most enjoy I ask a group of experts aka my kids.

Noah, Eden, and Jonah have been traveling with me their entire lives. So far the three of them have been to at least 22 countries, 4 continents, and almost every state in the United States. Needless to say, when I ask them what the best family vacations were, they had more than a few opinions!

They quickly fired off an assortment of places we have been. It was interesting to hear what they picked, some of them I knew, but other ones were a complete surprise. After some serious conversation with them, we’ve narrowed it down to 17!

Top 17 Family Vacations You will Never Forget!

1. SingaporeSingapore

Singapore is in all of our top ten picks. My oldest, Noah considers Singapore to be a utopia because of its cleanliness and orderliness. Oddly enough, we were only in Singapore for two days, making it one of the shortest stays we have done anywhere. It only took one day for us to fall in love with this city. We recommend walking around Marina Bay where the architecture is insane and definitely visit some parts of the Marina Bay Gardens. I can assure you that your kids have never seen anything else like this! The kid’s favorite hotel here is the Fairmont Singapore. For more ideas on what to do and where to find the best milkshake see my article: Singapore Travel Guide.

2. CancunCancun Family Adventure

Cancun has so much going on, and don’t worry, it’s safe. We spent a week there and basically had a non-stop adventure! The entire area is set up well to accommodate any kind of family and literally any type of budget. Families will appreciate luxurious, all-inclusive resorts with kid’s clubs and teen clubs. While the kids are off doing their own thing parents can head to a spa or the bar. There isn’t a bad beach anywhere in the area, so plan to spend at least two full days beach bumming. While you are there, be sure to see Mayan Ruins, swim in a cenote, eat lots of Mexican food, and go ATVing.

For a list fun family things to do in Cancun check out this post: 12 Adventurous Things to do in Cancun. I recommend staying at The Grand in Cancun or at another one of the 11 Best All-inclusive Resorts in Cancun for Families.

If at some point you head over to Cozumel (you totally should), check out my post: 13 Things to do in Cozumel. I recommend staying at Allegro Cozumel.

3. ThailandThings to do in Phuket Thailand with Kids

Thailand is absolutely incredible and I wasn’t surprised it landed in my kids top three places. You can basically go anywhere in Thailand and have an interesting experience. I recommend visiting at least these three places when you go: Phuket, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai. Although they each have some similarities they are completely different experiences.

Phuket

Phuket is one of Thailand’s islands and it’s extremely kid friendly. My kids thought taking a Thai cooking class was cool and they loved going to the beaches and interacting with elephants and tigers. To find the elephants on the beach check out my post: Swimming with Elephants in Thailand. And for more help planning your trip to Phuket see my article: 5 Day Phuket Itinerary with Kids.

Bangkok

Bangkok is massive so there are loads and activities. The kids loved biking through the city despite the heavy traffic and they were thrilled when we stumbled across monstrous milkshakes. To read more about taking Bangkok to kids, check out my article: Two Days in Bangkok with Kids.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is an easy city to get around and it has tons to see and do. The city has an incredible night market where you and your kids could shop for hours. Here you will find interesting things to purchase like leather journals, bracelets, and tuk-tuks made out of soda cans. There is an elephant sanctuary where families can care for elephants and of course the food is outstanding! I recommend staying at the Shangri-la and taking a food and city tour by bike. Learn more about visiting Chiang Mai with kids in my article: 4 Things to do in Chiang Mai with kids.

4. New York CityNYC Street Art

New York City is currently Noah’s #1 and in Eden’s top 3 and in my top 15. The kids love the many dessert experiences here like Serendipity and Black Tap. Both places have outrageous over-the-top desserts. They all enjoy hanging out in Central Park and Bryant Park, both parks have lots of free activities. At Bryant Park, kids can play kubb, while parents grab a drink at the little outdoor bar there. In Central Park, there are multiple playgrounds.

Visiting the 9/11 memorial is a must and if the kids are 10 or older tour the museum. Kids enjoy touring the Statue of Liberty, but not necessarily Ellis Island. If you do, go to Ellis Island to look for your family’s name on the wall. If you want to do a bus tour I recommend The Ride, especially if your kids are teens or tweens. I think going to a Broadway show is a must, but this is expensive and not worth it if your kids hate musicals or might possibly sleep through it. Good plays for kids are Wicked, Lion King, and Phantom of the Opera.

Remember the further out you can plan a trip to New York the cheaper the trip will be. Here are 15 Ways to save money in NYC.

We’ve been to NYC more times than we can remember. Check out our New York City Travel Guide to help you plan your own epic NYC getaway!

5. Oahu, Hawaii

Views from Diamond Head hike
Views from the top of Diamond Head a kid-friendly hike in Oahu.

Hawaii is another place that all three kids agree on and Oahu is their top island followed by Kauai. On Oahu, their favorite thing to do is sit at the pool or sit on the beach.

The kids recommend hanging out at the beach on North Shore to check out the waves and do some shopping. While you are up there have shrimp from Giovani’s Shrimp truck and get shaved ice at Matsumoto Shave Ice. If you feel like getting active rent a paddleboard at Sea N Surf and paddle up the Anahulu River and look for sea turtles. The last time we went we saw five huge sea turtles.

Also, fun in Oahu is parasailing in Waikiki and hiking to the top of Diamond Head. When you get done hiking Diamond Head, stop by Shimazu Shave Ice for massive shaved ice.

For more help planning your family’s Oahu vacation read our Oahu Travel Guide

I highly recommend staying at Disney’s Aulani if possible.

6. OrlandoVolcano Bay at Universal Orlando

Orlando would probably make any kid’s list. With it being home to Disney World, Sea World, Discovery Cove, and Universal Studios a family could spend a month and do something different every single day. Universal Orlando is a must once each kid is tall enough to ride all the roller coasters and the new water park, Volcano Bay is fantastic. Besides the theme parks, there are all sorts of other fun things to do like swamp tours through alligator-infested waters, knight tournaments at Medieval Times, and within a short drive lots of beaches.

7. LondonLondon with Kids

London also made it high on the list of the kid’s favorite places. We visited during Thanksgiving a few years ago and everything we did was awesome. There is so much to see and do that you can easily spend a week or two here and never run out of activities. Some of their favorite things were seeing the play Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, eating at Borough Market, and doing the Tower of London tour. Both boy’s least favorite thing to do is the bus tours. I personally appreciated how many free things there were to do in London. For more London ideas and tips, see my article: London with Kids.

8. Negril, Jamaica

Snuba at Beaches Negril
Snuba at Beaches Negril

Negril, Jamaica is Jonah’s #1 pick, and if I was his age, I think this would possibly be my #1 too. We recommend staying at Beaches Negril. This is an all-inclusive resort geared specifically for families. Highlights of staying here include:

 • Sesame Street parade and BBQ party where families can dance with the characters, DJs lead dances, flame throwers perform, and more.
 • Ice Cream Machine – The kids loved the ice cream machine which they visited a minimum of three times a day. (Don’t judge me, it’s vacation!)
 • Snuba – Even kids can snuba at Beaches Negril and they do not have to have any experience to do this. The instructors are fabulous and it’s an activity the kids will never forget.
 • Multiple pools, a lazy river, a water playground, and hot tubs.
 • Miniature golf
 • Video game lounge
 • Kid’s club

9. Vail, ColoradoVail, Colorado with kids

Vail, Colorado is another destination that is enjoyable year-round. During the summer the kids enjoy biking around town, riding horses around the mountain, and visiting the Epic Discovery adventure park set up on the mountain. In the winter the skiing is excellent. My kids have skied since they were little and appreciate the extensive skiing found in Vail. If you do not ski, this is a great place to learn. For more info, check out our Vail Travel Guide.

10. Silvies Valley RanchKidding Experience at Silvies

Visiting a dude ranch is a completely unique vacation. You can have an experience as a family that just can’t be had unless you are on a working ranch. Here you can shoot guns, interact with baby goats, hit the spa, experience gourmet dining, participate in a cattle round-up, and much more. They even have four golf courses on the ranch. Golf lovers will flip out over the reversible golf course that’s right I said reversible! With a little bit of everything, your family is sure to have an incredible time. To get a feel of the overall ranch read about our Silvies Valley Ranch Experience.

11. GreeceGreece with kids

Greece is an epic experience because let’s face it, there’s no other place on earth like it. It basically doesn’t matter what part of the country you visit, you will never have a bad meal, you will experience history and culture like never before. I can state this as a fact because we’ve traveled all over Greece and it’s all been wonderful.

Athens

Chances are high that one way or another a Greek vacation is going to take you through Athens at some point. Plan to spend at least a day here so you can visit the Acropolis before heading out to the islands. At night during the sunset dine at Savvas, their rooftop overlooks the Acropolis. Hotels can be difficult to get for a family, you may want to stay in an Airbnb.

Mykonos

A one of a kind city and gorgeous beaches await you in Mykonos. Teens and parents alike will love Mykonos City full of white-washed buildings. Also, if you can get a sitter or if your kids are old enough to stay at the hotel alone plan to go out. Mykonos has one of the best nightlife experiences in the world.

Santorini

Here you will have the opportunity to see things you’ve never see before like Red Beach. Perissa, the black beach is also worth visiting if you’ve never seen one before. There are two towns built into the sides of the island, both of which are worth spending time in, Fira and Oia. In Oia, you will see one of the greatest sunsets in the world.

Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki is from biblical times and many of their historical sights have withstood the test of time. (Okay, I know what you are thinking. Yes, all of Greece is from biblical times.) They basically have ruins or a gorgeous church around every corner. The food scene is excellent here. For a list of things to see and do check out my post: Thessaloniki on a Budget

Kassandra

Can’t afford to splurge on the islands? Head here instead. Here you will be greeted with that famous aqua water and glorious beaches. Go shopping in Pefkochori and grab lunch at Agora Beach Bar. I highly recommend staying at Alexander the Great Beach Resort in this area.

12. Australiafeeding kangaroos at the Great Ocean Road Wildlife Park

If you can get yourself to Australia, do it! Australia is just as fabulous as everyone says it is. There are so many varied experiences to be had throughout the country. Try to plan a minimum of 9 days in the country. More than two weeks would be better.

Whitsunday Islands

If swimming the Great Barrier Reef is on your bucket list, then this should be your first stop. Whitehaven Beach should also be on your bucket list. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Melbourne

If you’ve got a family of foodies, Melbourne is sure to delight. They have the most over-the-top, whimsical food creations you’ve likely ever seen. In between beautiful meals stop by the Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes and the graffiti alleys. The alleys in Melbourne are really cool.

Great Ocean Road

One of the top road trips in the world is driving the Great Ocean Road. Along the way, you can stop at dozens of scenic overlooks and take in the magnificent rock formations like Loch Ard Gorge and the 12 Apostles. You can enjoy one of the many nice beaches where kids can swim and play in the sand. Plus, there are animal encounters. Pull over to look for koalas in the trees and feed the birds at Kafe Koala. Be sure to stop at the Great Ocean Road Wildlife Park, where you can hand-feed kangaroos.

13. TexasSan Antonio

We are originally from Texas so it was no surprise that Texas made the list. The kids have been all over Texas and they recommend eating lots of Tex-Mex food and visiting the following cities: Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.

San Antonio

San Antonio has a ton of stuff for families to do. Here you will find a massive zoo, Fiesta Texas theme park, the famous San Antonio River Walk, and just outside of town is Schlitterbahn the #1 water park in the world. When visiting plan at least one full day at Schlitterbahn, half a day at the river walk, and float the Comal river. Our favorite restaurants in San Antonio currently are Ocho, Toro Kitchen + Bar, and Rita’s on the River.

In San Antonio, I recommend staying at Hotel Emma.

Plan your entire trip with our San Antonio Travel Guide.

Dallas/Fort Worth

The Dallas, Fort Worth area is packed with stuff to do for families. Over in Fort Worth will love the rodeo at the stockyards. Be sure to go when they have bull riding. Also found in the stockyards is a fun maze and Texas-themed shopping. Plus, they do a daily cattle drive. Our favorite restaurants in Dallas include Meso Maya for dinner and El Jordan Cafe for breakfast. Just north of Dallas is Addison, TX which is jammed packed with great restaurants.

14. HondurasRoatan Honduras

Honduras is easily one of our top vacations, according to me. Unfortunately, the kids remember very little of the trip. I recommend going to Roatan and Copan. These two places are no where near each other and two extremely different experiences. What they do have in common is affordability!

Roatan

Roatan is one of the Bay Islands and along the 2nd best barrier reef in the world. The reef is near the shoreline making it extremely easy for kids to snorkel. Jonah was 4 when we visited and he was able to snorkel. Also fun here is zip lining and paddleboarding.

Copan

Copan is a Honduran city that borders Guatemala. Here you can go horseback riding up a mountain, go zip lining on one of the longest zip lines in the world, and visit an incredible hot spring.

15. Panama City Beach

go karting at Cobra Adventure Park in Panama City Beach
Go-karting at Cobra Adventure Park in Panama City Beach

Another family favorite in Florida is Panama City Beach. The beach has soft, powdery, white sand. It isn’t as big as many of the beach towns, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to do. Go mini-golfing and go-carting, spend the day at the beach, or shop around at Pier Park. Spend one day bopping around Scenic 30A, where you will find tiny beach towns like Seaside or Rosemary. Renting some bicycles is a perfect way to explore this area. Another interesting spot worth venturing out to is Sandestin’s Baytowne Wharf. Here, families can indulge in boutique shopping, zip-lining, ropes courses, an arcade, and unique eateries.

Use our Panama City Beach travel guide to plan your entire vacation.

16. Costa RicaLa Roca Canyoning - Rappeling in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is super cool country with a wide variety of things to do. The food was consistently good, the activities were exciting and the people were so nice. Whether rafting down a volcano’s raging rivers in a tube near La Fortuna to chilling at a beautiful beach on the Pacific or the Atlantic everyone is going to enjoy the country. Costa Rica Travel Guide

17. La PazBalandra Bay in La Paz

La Paz features miles of white sand beaches and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure including paddle boarding, kite surfing, kayaking, SCUBA diving, whale watching, swimming with whale sharks, sportfishing, hiking, mountain biking, and much more. If you want your kids off their devices and outside doing stuff you will love it here. Plus, the food is unbelievably good.

Plan your own trip with our La Paz Travel Guide for Families. Plus, Best Places to Stay in La Paz, Mexico and Best Beaches in La Paz.

Conclusion:

So, there you have it, the best of the best family travel locations. There are hundreds of other places that could have made the list but didn’t. These were ones that just barely missed making our list: Las Vegas, Bavarian Alps in Germany, Paris, and house boating on Lake Shuswap in British Columbia. Like Honduras, my kids do not even remember house boating up in Canada, but if they did (well not Jonah, he had yet to be born), I am sure it would have made it onto the list.

Where are your favorite places to take your kids on vacation? We are always taking recommendations and planning our next family vacations. Yes, plural. Why take just one vacation? I think you should take as many as possible, big trips, weekend getaways, family reunions, you name it. These are all opportunities to have fun, spend time together and make the most memories possible. And don’t delay. Noah’s a high school senior and he’s about to move on with his life. (Oregon State University #Bragging) And y’all, I straight up ran out of time with him. You will run out of time, so make today count.

I love roaming around New York City during the holiday season. During that time, the city feels so warm and cozy. The twinkling lights, festive decorations, and joyful atmosphere make it a perfect time to create lasting memories with loved ones.

One of the best ways to experience the holiday spirit is by dining at one of the city’s many festively decorated restaurants.

Here are the 10 best holiday restaurants in NYC for families.

1. Rolf’s German Restaurant

Rolf’s Bar and Restaurant
Rolf’s Bar and Restaurant

If you’re looking for a restaurant that goes all out for Christmas, go to Rolf’s German Restaurant. This Gramercy Park establishment is famous for its over-the-top Christmas decorations that stay up all year round. The restaurant has over 200,000 lights inside. Also, most of the decor is vintage.

Supposedly, Rolf’s spends an estimated $60,000 annually on its holiday decor, which includes thousands of sparkling lights, ornaments, icicles, and even creepy Victorian-era dolls.

While the decorations are undoubtedly the main attraction, Rolf’s also offers a traditional German menu with kid-friendly options like schnitzel and bratwurst, ensuring that there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

2. Tavern on the Green

Tavern on the Green

Located near Central Park’s Strawberry Fields, Tavern on the Green is a great location for a family holiday meal. This iconic restaurant hosts an annual Christmas Tree Lighting event with complimentary treats and drinks, live music, and a performance by the Manhattan Holiday Carolers.

It was originally a sheepfold in the 1880s. Later, in 1934, Robert Moses turned it into a restaurant. After a hiatus in 2009, the city selected new owners, Jim Caiola and David Salama, who reopened the restaurant in 2014. They revamped the restaurant with inviting décor reminiscent of its origins.

In addition to its festive ambiance, Tavern on the Green offers a range of menus, including a dedicated children’s menu, ensuring that even the pickiest eaters in your family will find something to their liking.

3. Pete’s Tavern

Pete's Tavern

Pete’s Tavern is NYC’s oldest continuously operating bar and restaurant, established in 1864. Built in 1851, Pete’s Tavern began as the Portman Hotel’s “grocery and grog store” in 1864. It was renamed “Healy’s Café” in 1899, and it acquired its current name when it was purchased by Peter D’Belles in 1922.

Pete’s Tavern maintains its original fixtures, including a forty-foot rosewood bar, tin ceiling, and tile floor, offering a glimpse into New York City’s history. Just perfect for the holiday effect.

But that’s not all – this historic establishment has a literary connection as well. It’s alleged that writer O. Henry wrote his famous short story “The Gift of the Magi” (one of the greatest Christmas stories of all time) at Pete’s Tavern. While you’re there, be sure to try their homemade eggnog and explore the kid-friendly menu options.

4. Papillon Bistro and Bar

Papillon Bistro and Bar offers a festive dining experience that both adults and children can enjoy. They have a varied menu suitable for all family appetites, including kid-friendly options.

5. Frosty’s Christmas Bar

Frosty’s Christmas Bar is a seasonal pop-up that’s back for every holiday season. They offer a unique and immersive experience for families. In addition to seasonal cocktails, Frosty’s features interactive holiday photo experiences, festive lights, and music, creating a truly magical atmosphere.

6. Smith & Wollensky

If you’re in the mood for a truly unique holiday dining experience, look no further than Smith & Wollensky. As part of its annual tradition, this famous steakhouse transforms itself into the “city’s largest Christmas gift” by wrapping the exterior in a massive red bow from Thanksgiving through the beginning of the new year.

While Smith & Wollensky doesn’t offer a dedicated kids’ menu, its portions are generous, making it easy for families to share dishes. And what could be more festive than dining inside a giant present? Regardless, they have a few must-try exotic foods on their menu.

7. Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde NYC

The restaurant and bar Oscar Wilde is victorian-inspired. They take its holiday decorations to the next level. Inspired by the Irish playwright, Oscar Wilde showcases antique treasures, including pieces from Hope Castle, stained glass from Milan, and Victorian chairs from Mexico.

During the holidays, the restaurant is covered from head to toe in festive decor, creating a truly immersive experience. While Oscar Wilde doesn’t have a dedicated kids’ menu, the brunch menu offers a nice variety of options, and the high-top tables make it a suitable choice for families.

8. 230 Fifth Rooftop Igloos

230 Fifth Rooftop Igloos

The Igloos are located at the 230 Fifth Rooftop, the largest rooftop in NYC. It is a perfect place for families to eat. Made of plastic and PVC pipe, each igloo has colorful party lights, tables, and chairs. The whole vibe provides a warm and festive escape from the chilly winter weather.

While the igloos can’t be reserved in advance, they’re first-come, first-served. And don’t worry – guests under 21 are welcome to visit with their parents, except during specific evening hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

9. The Lodge Bar + Food Hall

10. Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery

Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery

But it’s not just the decorations that make this NoHo eatery a standout – its delicious holiday desserts, like lemon meringue tart, are sure to delight the whole family.

In addition to its festive ambiance and sweet treats, Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery’s proximity to nearby holiday markets in NYC makes it a convenient stop for families looking to soak up the holiday spirit in the city.

Sandbar Rooftop

This one is amazing but listed last because I found their staff to be incredibly rude. You are only allowed to stay for whatever block of time you manage to reserve. About 15 minutes before your time is up they won’t serve you another round. But Sandbar Rooftop does bring beachy vibes to the heart of Manhattan. With nautical decor, cozy cabanas, and cocktails like the “Sandy Spritz,” it’s the perfect escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Kick back, relax, and pretend you’re at the beach – without the sand in your shoes.

So, there you have it – the crème de la crème of NYC rooftop bars. From swanky lounges to playful spots, these high-altitude hangouts are sure to elevate your night out. Cheers to sky-high sips and unforgettable views! 🍹✨

Do you want to experience the best milkshake in the world?

So do we! That’s why we try milkshakes everywhere we go.

Lola’s bubble & hot dog waffles

Have you ever sat and wondered, “Where can I find the best milkshake in the world?”.

I am assuming everyone sits around wondering this. I know I do, I mean, who doesn’t love a good milkshake?

In our family, a good milkshake is a good enough reason to go out of the way to eat somewhere and I mean totally and completely out of the way! This might be part of the reason I just can’t drive past a Sonic without pulling over!

Here are 26 of the best milkshakes in the world and where to find them including shakes in NYC, Orlando, Las Vegas, Brazil, Australia, Madrid, and many more! Originally this list only had 7 milkshakes, but we are happy to report that we keep finding more worth adding to the list!

Where to Find the 26 Best Milkshakes in the World

Black Tap

black tap milkshakes are some of the best milkshakes in the world
2 of the milkshakes at Black Tap

1. Black Tap in NYC is a burger and beer place with multiple locations in NYC and now one in Anaheim at Disneyland, Las Vegas and even in Dallas. But I must say it’s not really the beers and burgers I think people are going there for. Granted, their burgers are wonderful. Skip the salad burger, it wasn’t as good as just having a burger. Nowadays there is usually not a wait to eat here anymore, but sometimes the wait times can get bad. The milkshakes are not cheap but just look at them. Worth it! The kids and I all had burgers and split two milkshakes and dinner cost about $110.

Naughty Boy Cafe

2. Naughty Boy Cafe in Melbourne, Australia is open for breakfast and lunch. Their food looks really good, but honestly, I would just be going for their milkshakes.

Update: I finally got to eat here after salivating over their photos and it was slightly disappointing, my milkshake looked like a child had made it. It was so bad I may have to remove them from this list.

Garage 51

Garage 51

3. Garage 51 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia is a pork-free cafe with some wildly awesome milkshakes. Now, I do not know how many people are visiting Malaysia, but this definitely gives me another reason to try and make it over there!

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium

4. Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Universal City Walk in Orlando, Florida has incredible milkshakes. 3 – 4 people can split one of their milkshakes because they are so large and so rich. Their regular menu is full of good food too.

The Coffee Club

5. The Coffee Club in Bangkok, Thailand happens to be located in the lobby of the hotel we were staying in while we were in Bangkok. Imagine our surprise when we realized there little hotel cafe had these incredible shakes. We ended up eating here 3 times! (Yes, we are pigs. We don’t care.) Recently, during our trip to the Whitsunday Islands in Australia, I realized that they have other locations. There is one near the marina in Airlie Beach, Australia.

Mustang Sally’s Pub & Diner

9. Cowfish a Burger Sushi Bar in Orlando makes spectacular alcoholic milkshakes. They are not as over top as the others on this list, but they are just so good. I sucked my spiked milkshake down in a matter of minutes. All the food here is excellent. They also have locations in Charlotte and Raleigh.

Serendipity 3

Serendipity frozen hot chocolate

10. Serendipity 3 is super famous already for their desserts and they should be. We couldn’t have a list without including their version of a milkshake: a frozen hot chocolate. You can find this at their NYC location or the Las Vegas location. If you could go to either go to both because they are completely different.

13. Gulf Coast Burger Co., also in Panama City Beach has amazing shakes too, and they are slightly more affordable than most freakshakes we have had. They are gigantic. You will not have room for a burger and a shake here. I recommend ordering one burger and one shake per two people.

Final Thoughts

Y’all, I’m not going to lie, it’s flat-out amazing to me that I don’t weigh more. But I guess you can tell from this post why I am constantly on a diet when not traveling. I don’t exactly make healthy choices when I am eating out. I have gotten to the point I don’t order my own shake and instead share with the kids.

Where’s the best milkshake you have ever had and where can we find it? Drop your recommendation in the comments below! My kids and I are always looking for some milkshake tips.
