Want to take your teenagers on vacation? But you do not want to listen to them cry and moan the entire time? Save yourself from the endless complaining by selecting a destination, they won’t rebel against!

At this point, I’ve traveled extensively with my teens and tween and unfortunately, I know firsthand how stressful things can suddenly become because they are not having a good time on the trip. There are few things worse than a moody teenager on vacation that does not want to participate in any of the activities.

For a while, I gave up and let my oldest kid sit in the hotel room while the rest of us had fun, but eventually, I realized I needed to change the type of trips we were taking. Our trips needed to be way more exciting and physically active, especially if they’ve been stuck in the car on a road trip. With these two things in mind, here are my picks for the top US vacation for teens and tweens.

Top 9 Destinations for Teens and Tweens in the United States

Oahuimg 2610

Oahu is an epic place to take tweens and teens year-round. The weather is consistently good and there is much to do, especially if your family enjoys water sports. Some suggested activities in Oahu that teens will likely appreciate are:

If possible, I highly recommend staying at Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa. This resort has a teen program that your kids will actually want to go to. They get to participate in physical challenges, take animation classes, learn to play the ukulele, have parties just for them, and more. While your kids are off doing their own thing, you have peace of mind knowing that they are safe and having fun.

See our Oahu Travel Guide to help you plan your entire trip! If you are staying in Waikiki check out our 4 Days in Waikiki itinerary.

Kauai, Hawaii is also fantastic if you want something less mainstream.

Vailimg 1946

Whether you visit in the summer or in the winter, tweens and teens will love Vail, Colorado.

In the summer, teens can zip line and adventure through multiple ropes courses at Epic Discovery up on the mountain. Plus, there are other activities like horseback riding, white water rafting, and mountain biking.

During the winter, tweens and teens can spend their time skiing and snowboarding across the massive mountain. Vail has free public transportation that’s easy to use, allowing kids to have a little independence roaming around on their own.

See our Vail, Colorado Travel Guide to help you plan your trip or our 4-Day Vail Itinerary. Our favorite place to stay in Vail is Sonnenalp Hotel.

Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando houses many of the best roller coasters in the United States and has two extensive Harry Potter areas. Teens and tweens will love riding all the intense roller coasters. If your kids are like mine and want to ride the same roller coaster over and over, consider purchasing an Express Pass. This line pass will allow you to bypass almost every line there is in all three of the parks, which means there will be plenty of time to ride everything at least twice.

Recently, Universal Orlando added a water park, Volcano Bay. There are rarely any lines and you do not have to cart around your own raft or tubes for the slides. They’ve made using the water park easy, and with teens and tweens, the easier the better!

A nice plus is the city of Orlando, because when you are done hanging out at Universal, Orlando has lots of other things to do. Kids of all ages will get a kick out of taking a Wild Florida airboat out on the swamps and seeing alligators. Oh, and there’s always Disney World

Las Vegas

Bellagio Fountain in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is not somewhere most think to take teenagers, but it is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the United States and there’s lots to do for all ages. Give the kids a thrill at the indoor skydiving facility or zip lining off the Rio casino at VooDoo Zip.

Other fun things to do include Gameworks, the massive indoor gaming facility, rocking climbing out at the Red Rocks, ATVing, and hanging out at some of the incredible hotel pools. The Wet N’ Wild in Las Vegas also has some extreme water rides. Teens will also like most of the Cirque Du Soleil shows in town. You can currently get Cirque Du Soleil discount tickets up to 50% off one of their shows in Vegas.

For more recommendations on planning a trip to Vegas with kids, see my article: Tons of Activities for Teenagers in Las Vegas.  Here is a sample itinerary: Five Days in Las Vegas with Kids, our extensive Las Vegas Travel Guide, and our hotel recommendations 11 Best Kid-Friendly Las Vegas Hotels.

San Antonio

San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas is jammed packed with activities. They have two major theme parks, Six Flags and Sea World, not to mention one of the most extensive water parks in the world, Schlitterbahn. The nice thing is, teenagers can basically run off and do their own thing in all of these theme parks. Even along the River Walk, kids can go explore all on their own. While they shop around, parents can take a break over a drink and enjoy the River Walk in a slightly more grown-up way.

San Antonio also has a fantastic zoo, but you will want to skip it if the temperature is over 100 degrees outside. Instead, lather on the sunscreen and go float down the Comel River or Guadalupe River.

In San Antonio, I recommend staying at Hotel Emma.

Plan your entire trip with our San Antonio Travel Guide.

Panama City Beach

Bay Point Resort Panama City Beach
Panama City Beach

Another teen favorite in Florida is Panama City Beach. The beach has soft, powdery, white sand. It isn’t as big as many of the beach towns, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to do.

Go mini-golfing and go-carting, spend the day at the beach, or shop around at Pier Park. Spend one day bopping around Scenic 30A, where you will find tiny beach towns like Seaside or Rosemary. Renting some bicycles is a perfect way to explore this area. Another interesting spot worth venturing out to is Sandestin’s Baytowne Wharf. Here, families can indulge in boutique shopping, zip-lining, ropes courses, an arcade, and unique eateries.

Use our Panama City Beach travel guide to plan your entire vacation.

Bend, Oregon

Kayaking in Sunriver, Oregon near Bend, Oregon
Kayaking in Sunriver, Oregon near Bend, Oregon

Bend, Oregon is another destination that is fantastic in the summer and in the winter. Year-round they have some of the best off-roading in the state!

During the summer, families will get a charge out of kayaking, white water rafting, and hiking. If your kids have never white water rafted before, take them down the Big Eddy. They will get a small taste of major rapids without being tossed around too terribly. Nearby, in Sunriver, there is a small water park and a little village to shop in.

During the winter you can ski and snowboard on Mt. Bachelor, and there’s an outdoor ice skating rink in Sunriver.

Read our Bend, Oregon Travel Guide to help plan your family vacation. Tetherow Lodge is our favorite place to stay in Bend.

NYC

NYC with teens

There are a lot of things to do for this age group in New York City year-round. During the winter season, everyone can ice skate for free in Bryant Park and shop at all the little shops that are set up temporarily. Plus, you can witness the acclaimed Rockettes performing and many other Christmas shows.

All year long, visitors can enjoy the major landmarks and attractions here, like seeing the Statue of Liberty or visiting Ground Zero. Once kids are age 10 and up they are old enough to go through the September 11th Memorial, and old enough to appreciate, or at least sit through, a Broadway show.

We’ve been to NYC more times than we can remember. Check out our New York City Travel Guide to help you plan your own epic NYC getaway! I’ve also put together a 3-Day NYC Itinerary with Teens and a Mother Daughter New York City Weekend Getaway guide.

Palm Springs, California

Omni Rancho Las Palmas

Take teens on an adventure trip in Palm Springs with activities like four-wheelers or Jeep tours. Despite it being almost 100 degrees outside all three of my kids loved going on a Jeep tour of the San Andreas fault. Families can hike out at Coachella Valley Preserve or take the Palm Springs Aerial Tram up to Mt. San Jacinto State Park to hike in cooler temperatures.

I recommend staying at Omni Rancho Las Palmas near Palm Springs. They have several swimming pools and a lazy river.

Use our Palm Springs Travel Guide to help you plan your family vacation.

Conclusion

This list could undoubtedly keep going with the abundance of diverse destinations found across the United States, but hopefully, these 9 are enough to get you started on planning a successful trip with your teens!

Get Travel Insurance

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flights

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner! Another option for finding deals is FlightHub.

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass, PogoPass, and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Get a Lyft

More often than not, Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase.

Get a Visa

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.

Omni Rancho Las Palmas: Reasons To Visit With Family

The kids and I found ourselves staying here at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas in Palm Springs a few weeks ago in one of their regular rooms, after they offered to host us. We were in LA for my friend’s wedding and afterwards decided, what the heck, lets go check out the desert! Palm Springs is about a two hour drive from LAX, but this is completely dependent on traffic. It took us two hours to get there, but two and a half to get back. We had planned on doing a variety of activities in the area, but the hotel was so great we ended up spending almost all of our time at just the hotel. I love when a hotel offers so much to do that you do not need to leave. I especially love this when it’s 110 degrees outside!

Omni Rancho Las Palmas Knows The Perks Moms Need

As mentioned before we were in one of their regular rooms. They have 444 guestrooms or suites. It had two queen beds, a desk, and a chair. Mostly importantly, it had a Keurig! And most importantly for Noah the room had a massive tv and he was able to hook up his gaming system no problem. He is a PS4 gamer and you can check out his videos at http://youtube.com/ShamBam. If we had needed to there would have been plenty of room to blow up an air mattress.

Our room also had a great patio. It was so nice to sit out there and catch the sunrise even though it was already over 80 degrees when we woke up. Our patio overlooked a pond and the golf course that runs through the property.  I do not golf much, so I do not know much about golf courses, but it looked like a nice course.

This is the view we enjoyed from our patio each morning.

Now, I’m not going to lie. I noticed that there are way nicer rooms availale at the Palm Springs Omni than the one we stayed in. Looking over their site I found quite a few room variations. Plus, they’ve clearly remodeled and updated big time since our stay!

Omni Rancho Las Palmas Offers Perks Indoors & Outdoors

Splashtopia

 the Omni Palm Springs Pool

Our favorite part of staying here was Splashtopia, the lazy river and pool. (Maybe because it was 114 degrees outside?) My kids spent hours upon hours floating around in the lazy river. I enjoyed it was well, but truthfully, I preferred sitting poolside with a pina colada. Most of the day they offer food and beverage service around the pool area. The menu has a variety of options including kids meals.  I can honestly say this was the perfect way to decompress after a long school year. I highly appreciate the art of doing something, yet doing nothing at all. The pool was a little crowded on the weekend, but it thinned out quite a bit during the week. I recommend trying to go during the week if possible during busy times.Omni Rancho Las Palmas lazy river

There are some rules regarding Splashtopia worth mentioning.

  • Non-resort guests will not be permitted to enter Splashtopia.
  • Outside food, drinks and coolers are not permitted.
  • Splashtopia is a non-smoking area.
  • Music players are prohibited unless headphones are used.
  • Children must be 42” tall to ride the slides.
  • If under 42”, children must be accompanied by an adult in the lazy river.
  • Conservative swimwear is required for this family environment.

Omni Kids Crew

Omni Kid’s Crew program at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa caters to the youngest guests. Sadly, I had no idea they did this. You have to request it and they don’t bring it up at checkin.

Omni Kids Crew program at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa caters to our youngest guests. Sadly, I had no idea they did this. You have to request it and they don’t bring it up at checkin. I should have known this, because I am pretty sure all Omni properties do this, and this certainly was not our first time staying at an Omni. One of my favorite hotels in San Antonio is Omni La Mansion Del Rio

Upon request, kids receive a backpack filled with fun items designed specifically for them. Kids also receive milk and cookies delivered to their guest room on the first night upon request. Our Omni Kids Crew coloring menu is also available at our restaurants, with crayons and an Omni Kids Crew cup.

Backpack items include:

  • Activity book with stickers
  • Crayons
  • 2-in-1 card games
  • Binoculars
  • Small tabletop game

Omni Palm Springs Golf Course

There’s a 27-hole Ted Robinson-designed golf course running through the property. You can book one of their specials that includes golf. They also offer lessons for those wanting to learn.

Omni Rancho Las Palmas Has An Incredible Spa

The Rancho Las Palmas Spa is found here near the lobby. It’s a huge space with separate facilities for men and women. The women’s locker room had a hot tub and sauna. It was a hundred degrees outside so I decided to skip those. They also have a private pool, separate from the rest of the resort. Now of course I had to pay a visit to the spa. I’m a single mom and I thought I deserved a treat! I had the Deep Canyon Therapeutic massage and it was phenomenal. Here is their description of the massage:

For a deeper, healing massage, moderate to firm pressure is applied to target the deeper layers of muscle tissue. This treatment will release tightened muscles, making them more pliable, and promote detoxification of the body’s impurities.

I get a massage once a month and this was easily one of the best I’ve had. I loved the fact that aromatherapy was included for no additional cost. I found their aromatherapy to be quite lovely and learned that is is made with local plants and herbs. If you ask they will provide you with a glass of champagne.

Although the hotel is affordable the spa is a tad bit exensive. If you search for “Omni Rancho Las Palmas deals” you have a high chance of scoring a spa deal.

Palm Springs, California is a fantastic destination for a family vacation. With so many things to do, it’s easy to fill up every day with lots of fun. Here are our suggestions on things to do, where to stay, and where to eat while visiting Palm Springs.

Palm Springs, California family vacation

The kids and I have been to Palm Springs a few times and it’s always a wonderful time. On our last trip we did a mix of free activities and paid activities while we were in the area.

Family-Friendly Activities in Palm Springs

Palm Springs Air Museum

Palm Springs Air Museum

Palm Springs, California is the home of a tremendous air museum. They have one of the largest collections of World War II planes in the world and many of the planes still fly! Some of the planes here are the F-4 Phantom, F-18 Hornet, B17 Flying Fortress, P63 Kingcobra, P51 Mustang, P40 Hawk, and many more.

What makes this museum even more of a treasure is their staff and volunteers, which is made up of veterans and former pilots. If you can, sign up for a guided tour with one of them. Their knowledge is endless and their storytelling truly captivating. They will tell you about the aircraft and then tell you about the famous men that flew it. Some of the stories you will know from history class and other stories are so funny you will be repeating them to all of your friends. If you cannot get a tour, find a volunteer and ask if he knows any stories behind the planes.

They even have an area just for kids. Where kids can make an airplane, helicopter or a parachute. They can play dress up, pretend to fly an airplane or color. The museum often has other kid events going on that you can find on their website.

I highly recommend visiting the educational air museum in Palm Springs.  I was only able to stay 2.5 hours and I could have spent double that in here.  If you are active duty you and your family may get a discount.  General admission is $17, kids $10, and 5 and under are free.

Touring the San Andreas

San Andreas Fault

Take a jeep tour of the San Andreas fault with Desert Adventures. On the tour, we learned the history of the area, about the Native Americans that lived there, the plants, current day farming techniques, and so much more.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

 Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the world’s largest rotating tramcar. It reaches 8,500 feet in 11 minutes after starting out at 2,643 feet. Once at the top, you can explore the gorgeous mountain wilderness of Mt. San Jacinto State Park. There are over 50 miles of hiking trails, including guided nature walks.

The tram itself is circular and the floor rotates 360 degrees; allowing you to see views in all directions. As you ride up you get an up-close view of Chino Canyon. You can also see all of Palm Springs and the surrounding areas.

Once at the top we explored the pristine mountain wilderness of Mt. San Jacinto State Park. Although they have over 50 miles of hiking trails, including guided nature walks. We did an easy self-guided nature walk along a ¾ mile loop. I was worried about hiking alone with the kids, but once I got there I realized there was nothing to be worried about. The trails were clearly marked and easy to hike. The trail going down was handicap accessible. It was also much cooler up there; only in the seventies!

At the top is a visitor center with multiple gift shops, restaurants, exhibits, and a theater. The cost of going is Adults – $25.95, Children – $16.95, Seniors – $23.95. Children under three years old are free. Watch their website for military appreciation days when military receive free admission.

Knott’s Soak City

Knotts Soak City

At this water park, there is an interactive four-story funhouse, lazy river, wave pool, body slides, and tube slides. To be honest, this barely made my list. Unless your child is 42” tall I would skip. If you have older kids though over 42″ tall you are good to go and this is an excellent activity on a hot day.

The Living Desert Zoo

This zoo has giraffes, zebras, camel rides, a playground, and more. It is almost all outside; so, consider the weather before going.

Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert

The Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert is a small children’s museum but packed with awesome things for kids to do like rock climbing and playing pretend. I thought it was excellent and definitely worth going to.

Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park

Short and sweet and easy enough for even the clumsiest of hikers is Arch Rock Trail inside Joshua Tree National Park. The hike is just under a half-mile long with little to no incline. The hike gets its name from the arched rock formation that you’ll see early in the hike.

The hike should take you about 15 minutes. However, if you take your time to enjoy the scenery, as well as, the informational signs that explain the geological background of the arch creation, it will take closer to 30 minutes. You are allowed to climb the arch.

8 Free Activities In Palm Springs

Now everyone knows not all free activities are worth doing, but we found eight of them that were definitely worth checking out. Here are our family’s favorite free activities in Palm Springs or nearby.

1. Palm Springs VillageFest

In downtown Palm Springs every Thursday from 7-10 PM: there is a large street fair with over 175 booths including impressive entertainment that the entire family will enjoy. While you are in downtown, stroll around and enjoy their famous downtown. I recommend popping into Great Shakes and getting everyone a treat, especially if it’s a hot day.

2. Coachella Valley Preserve

At the Coachella Valley Preserve you will find 28 miles of hiking trails leading to a wide range of habitats. Trails range from easy to moderately difficult. The Preserve is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. May through September and from 7:00 am to 5:00 p.m. October through April.

3. Palm Springs Art Museum In Palm Desert

This art museum offers free admission on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. They have ongoing and temporary exhibitions of sculpture, painting, and photography.

4. Santa Rosa And San Jacinto Mountains

A visit to this scenic national monument and the visitors center for free. Here you will enjoy beautiful palm oases, snow-capped mountains, a national scenic trail, and wilderness areas.

5. La Quinta Park

The La Quinta park offers a free splash pad for kids and has a free skate park. Splash pad hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday (May through October ONLY).

6. Agua Caliente Cultural Museum

At this museum admission is always free and you can learn about the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and other Native cultures.

7. El Paseo Art Walk

The El Paseo Art Walk is held on the first Friday of each month in the renowned El Paseo shopping district and is free.

8. Cabazon Dinosaurs

Cabazon dinosaurs are a little far out to make our list, but if you are going to be driving near there you must stop. Although you have to pay to go into the area and see the full exhibit, you can take pictures with two of the dinosaurs for free. Chances are this will be one of the most unique road stops you will ever make!Cabazon Dinosaurs

Palm Springs also has a discount card, the Chill Pass. The Chill Pass has deals on attractions, restaurants, hotels, and more. Some of the activity deals are buy one get one, so although not free it’s heavily discounted.

Where to Eat in Palm Springs

Great Shakes Palm Springs
Great Shakes in downtown Palm Springs

Rio Azul Mexican Bar and Grill – Awesome food and atmosphere. They too had nice high booths so no one could see my kids going nuts. My carne asada tacos were some of the best I’ve ever had.

Great Shakes – You cannot have a family vacation without finding amazing milkshakes. (Well, we can’t!)

Las Casuelas Nuevas – This place was fantastic. Cool atmosphere and great food. Chips and salsa were complimentary.

In-n-Out – You cannot visit California and not have In n Out. We usually have it once a day!

Where to Stay in Palm Springs

Omni Rancho Las Palmas
Omni Rancho Las Palmas

There are lots of family-friendly places to stay in Palm Springs. I have only stayed a few places and currently can only recommend one.

Omni Rancho Las Palmas – This is our favorite place to stay. They have a lazy river, splash pad, large rooms, and more. Their spa is fantastic too!

Korakia Pensione – Located in the heart of Palm Springs, California is a small adults-only resort. The Moroccan- inspired desert oasis destination has 28 rooms and villas dubbed as “one of the sexiest hotels in America”  by The New York Times. When you stay here you get free breakfast, afternoon tea, pool, loaner bikes, bocce ball, and yoga. Check availability and rates

Are you getting married this year? Congratulations! As much as you may wish that your wedding planning was over, I am sure that you are excited thinking about taking a honeymoon with your new spouse. Unfortunately, because wedding planning can be so stressful, we sometimes forget about planning our honeymoon. If you are one of those people who has put your honeymoon planning on the back burner, have no fear. Today we will walk you through some of the best honeymoon destinations.

Honeymoon Destinations For Those That Love The Beach:

Who doesn’t love the beach? But, why go to Florida or South Carolina again? These beach destinations are for the traveler in all of us.

Bora, Bora is an incredible place to take a honeymoonBora, Bora

This South Polynesian island has been one of the top honeymoon locations for years. This island is located between the Pacific Ocean and France, surrounded by a large barrier reef. This location is ideal for the couple that wants to get away and get some sun. You can scuba dive, swim, lay on the beach, or just relax as you look into the beautiful waters. I recommend staying at Four Seasons Bora Bora.

FijiFiji

Another island in the South Pacific, Fiji, has recently been becoming one of the most popular places to vacation in the world. There are so many beaches, waterfalls, mountains, and waters to observe, that you’ll wish you had longer to see it all. This is an excellent choice for any couple who loves the beach but wants to try something new.

In Fiji, we recommend staying at:

Outrigger – FijiOutrigger Fiji

Outrigger Fiji is a family-friendly seaside resort on the Coral Coast of Viti Levu, one of the best islands in Fiji. The 40-acre resort is famous for its complimentary kid’s club that entertains kids of all ages with activities like guided snorkel tours with coral gardening, dance lessons, pool games, art projects, and more. Teens have their own program that centers around local adventures like waterfall hikes and a visit to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The resort also offers a nanny service for extra charge and kids under 12 eat free.

But it’s not all about the little ones at Outrigger Fiji. Adults can enjoy some time to themselves at the adults-only pool, complete with a poolside bistro, swim-up bar, and plenty of lounge chairs. Grabbing a drink at the hilltop sunset bar is also a memorable experience, best enjoyed after a spa treatment.

There are multiple accommodation options that range from modern hotel rooms and suites to thatched-roof bungalows. For travelers who have limited mobility, there’s a buggy service that shuttles guests around the resort available 24-7. The resort hosts a variety of family-friendly activities like kayaking, scuba diving, standup paddleboarding, and day trips to some of Viti Levu’s cultural sights.

MaldivesMaldives

Located off the coast of Sri Lanka, this exclusive island is the new up-and-coming vacation and honeymoon destination. If you are someone who loves the thought of looking over crystal waters in your own private villa, Maldives is the beach vacation you’ve been waiting for.

Honeymoons For Those That Want To Stay in the United States

Omni Rancho Las PalmasPalm Springs, California

This retro-cool hideaway is located two hours from the hustle and bustle of larger California cities. In the 50s and 60s, Palm Springs was the place for Hollywood glamour to go to escape it all. This location offers you it all. From getting sun by the pool to exotic and fun places to eat to spas, it’s hard to see why you won’t want to stay forever.

Canoe Bay, Wisconsin

So maybe the beach isn’t really your scene. There is nothing wrong with that! Canoe Bay offers you all the relaxation you need on a honeymoon, without the busyness of the beach or an exotic location. Spend your days sitting by the placid lake, hiking, and roasting s’mores. This is an excellent option for an adventurous or outdoorsy couple.

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Do you want a honeymoon that is rich in history and sunshine? Then Santa Fe might just be your ideal location. Staying at an exclusive resort in Santa Fe will transport you back to the time of the Alamo. With clay-baked design and architecture, it’s easy to see why so many tourists fall in love with Santa Fe each year. In Santa Fe we recommend staying at Bishops Lodge.

Honeymoons For Those That Want to go to Europe

While saving money and staying in the United States for your honeymoon might sound like a great idea, I know many of you have wanderlust. And particularly, wanderlust for Europe. So what are the best cities to visit on your honeymoon across the pond?

Oia SantoriniSantorini, Greece

Ever wanted to see a city that looks like it was kissed by the gods? Then buckle up and get ready to spend your honeymoon in Santorini, Greece. With beautiful landscapes, fresh culture, great food, and beautiful waters, you can’t go wrong taking a trip to this scenic European town.

Pantheon in Rome

Rome, Italy

Want a honeymoon that can combine history, sightseeing, and beautiful culture? Then Rome is the place you should be. Have a fantastic time as you eat and explore your way through one of Europe’s most famous cities.

Prague, Czech RepublicCharles-Bridge-Prague

Want to find a cheap way to get to Europe? Then Prague is the European vacation you have been searching for.  The capital of the Czech Republic is known for its beauty, culture, and affordability. This is a great trip for any and all couples.

As you can see, there is no limit for amazing honeymoon destinations. Talk it over with your spouse and have fun choosing a place where you get to celebrate starting your life together. Happy traveling!

New York City Romantic Getaway

Want to learn about the San Andreas fault? Take a tour of the area on Desert Adventures Red Jeep Tours on their San Andreas fault tour.San Andreas FaultDesert Adventures

Desert Adventures offers one-of-a-kind tour experiences in the greater Palm Springs area in their fun jeeps. They offer a variety of tours including:

  • Indian Canyon Jeep and Hiking Tour
  • Painted Canyon/Mecca Hills Jeep tour
  • Joshua Tree National Park Van/Suv tour
  • Palm Springs City and Celebrity Home tour
  • San Andreas Fault tour.

San Andreas Fault Tour

The kids and I went on their San Andreas Fault tour and although it was a little toasty outside we had the best time, even the teenagers like it! I knew we would learn some stuff about the fault, but what I didn’t expect is to learn the history of the area, the Native Americans that lived there, the plants, current-day farming techniques, and so much more. After experiencing this tour first hand I cannot recommend it highly enough. I really feel like it is a must-do with kids in Palm Springs.

What is the San Andreas Fault?

The San Andreas Fault is a continental transform fault that extends about 1,200 kilometers through California. It forms the tectonic boundary between the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate. The Pacific Plate is moving to the northwest at 3 inches (8 centimeters) each year, and the North American Plate is heading south at about 1 inch (2.3 cm) per year.

Red Jeep Tours
Private Guides

From the moment we met our guide Phil he was fun and engaging. It can be difficult to hold a teenager’s attention, much less a tween and a school-age kid too. As we drove through town he gave us an in-depth history of the area. As we passed farmland he taught us about the irrigation methods farms are currently using and explained the waterways we were driving past as well. I just cannot emphasize enough how much in-depth knowledge our guide possessed.Dessert Adventures Palm Springs Desert Adventures is the only tour company with private access to the 800-acre Metate Ranch. It’s out on this ranch where you get to experience the fault. Now those of you that don’t do well off-roading don’t worry. There’s no off-roading. If you want you can take a short hike, which of course we did. I hate to even use the word hike because really it’s just a short walk, but our guide referred to it as hiking. We walked through an extremely narrow crevice in between the rocks which were super fun for the kids.

Hiking San Andreas FaultNative American Education

A small section features a recreated Cahuilla Native American village. We got to see how they lived and each of the kids received a new Native American name. Noah was named Wise Eagle, Eden Flowering Owl, and Jonah Smiling Eagle. Once again I was blown away by how in-depth Phil went in educating us on the Cahuilla Indians. img 4853

I highly recommend this tour if you have tweens and teens.

And if you are looking for more things to do in Palm Springs check out our Palm Springs Travel Guide! We recommend staying at Omni Rancho Las Palmas.

Children’s Museum of the Desert is near Palm Springs, California. Honestly, it is so close to Palm Springs it basically is. There are tons of activities for kids here.

Children's Museum of the Desert Palm Springs

It’s a fantastic museum. My 4 year old loved it!  We spent 3 hours there and he still did not want to leave.
