If you’re planning a wine-tasting weekend in Fredericksburg, you’ll quickly realize two things: there are a lot of wineries, and no one in your group wants to be the designated driver. That’s where 830 Elevated Wine Tours comes in. My group of 15 decided to book their three-stop wine tasting tour, and it turned out to be a fun, easy, and (mostly) seamless way to experience Texas wine country without worrying about logistics.

I chose the wineries myself from their list of included partners. They had quite a few options to pick from, and—being the visual person I am—I narrowed it down based on photos. (Let’s be honest, if it doesn’t look cute on Instagram, did it even happen?) They also had a few “premium” wineries available for an additional fee, but I decided to stick with the ones included in the base price. Our stops ended up being Barons Creek, Meierstone Vineyards, and Texas Wine Collective.

The Setup

830 Elevated Wine Tours Van
830 Elevated Wine Tours Van | Photo by Meagan Wristen

Our group was split between two sprinter vans, which worked out perfectly. Both vans were clean, comfortable, and equipped with air conditioning—a necessity in Texas. Each van also had a small cooler stocked with bottled water, which was a thoughtful touch and something we actually needed between stops. Our drivers were two college students who were, quite honestly, fantastic. They were friendly, professional, and rolled with our group’s chatty energy all day. They kept everything on time, handled all the winery coordination, and even tolerated our off-key van sing-alongs (sorry about that, guys).

We were picked up at 10:30 AM right from our rental house, which made things super convenient. The plan was to visit three wineries over the course of the day, then get dropped back off mid-afternoon. We actually finished around 2 PM, a bit earlier than scheduled, but that worked out fine since most of us were happily wined-out by then.

Stop 1: Barons Creek

Barons Creek Fredericksburg

Our first stop was Barons Creek, a large and polished winery that feels a bit like a European estate plopped into the Texas Hill Country. The courtyard is lovely, with beautiful architecture and plenty of photo ops. The tasting room is spacious, and the wines were solid—nothing mind-blowing, but a nice way to start the day. Service was friendly but a little rushed, which is understandable considering how busy this place gets on weekends. It’s one of the more popular wineries in the area, so don’t expect an intimate tasting, but it does set the stage for the rest of the day nicely.

Stop 2: Meierstone Vineyards

Meierstone Vineyards

The highlight of our tour, hands down, was Meierstone Vineyards. If you only take one thing away from this review, let it be this: make sure Meierstone is one of your stops. It’s smaller and more personal than some of the big-name wineries, and that’s exactly what makes it special. We got to meet the actual winemaker, who shared their story, explained their process, and guided us through the tasting. You could really feel their passion for what they do, and it gave the whole experience a much more authentic and educational feel.

The wines themselves were good—complex, well-balanced, and clearly crafted with care. Even members of our group who weren’t big wine drinkers were happy because they have cocktails. Beyond the wine, the property is gorgeous. It’s the kind of place that feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard—modern, rustic, and full of charm. Between the old barns, scenic views, and tasting patio, it’s a total photo op goldmine. Everyone in our group ended up snapping pictures for at least 15 minutes before we even started tasting.

If you’re looking for a winery that’s equal parts educational and Instagram-worthy, Meierstone checks both boxes. We could’ve easily stayed longer, and it was the one stop that everyone agreed was worth a return visit.

Stop 3: Texas Wine Collective

Texas Wine Collective
Texas Wine Collective | Photos by Meagan Wristen

Our final stop was Texas Wine Collective, and while it wasn’t bad by any means, it was our group’s least favorite. It’s a larger, more commercial winery with multiple tasting areas and a steady flow of big tour groups coming and going. After the intimate vibe at Meierstone, this one felt a little impersonal. The wines were decent, but the experience lacked the warmth and connection we’d enjoyed earlier in the day. If you’re new to wine tasting, you’ll probably enjoy the variety here, but for our group, it just didn’t have the same charm.

Lunch (Sort Of)

I had planned ahead and brought a charcuterie board and sandwiches for everyone, thinking we could enjoy them at one of the wineries between tastings. Unfortunately, that plan didn’t work out quite as expected. Our drivers let us know that outside food isn’t allowed at the wineries, which makes sense from their perspective but wasn’t exactly what I’d envisioned. So, we improvised and had a little rolling picnic in the vans between stops. It wasn’t glamorous, but it got the job done. If you’re planning a tour like this, just know you’ll need to eat before or after—or check if your chosen wineries offer food options.

Also, a quick note for planners: the coolers in the vans are fairly small, so if you’re bringing your own snacks, don’t expect to fit a big spread. Our charcuterie board definitely didn’t fit, though we made it work.

Timing and Pacing

Each stop lasted atleast an hour and a half, which felt a little long for our group. After two wineries, most of us were ready to move on sooner, especially since the tastings themselves don’t take that long. Still, I can see how others might appreciate the leisurely pace—if you’re the type who likes to sit, sip, and soak in the atmosphere, you’ll love the slower rhythm.

Since we wrapped up earlier than expected (around 2 PM), we had plenty of time afterward to relax by the pool at our rental house, which honestly felt like the perfect way to end the day.

Overall Impressions

All in all, 830 Elevated Wine Tours did a fantastic job. Coordinating a group of 15 isn’t easy, but they made it look effortless. The vans were comfortable, the drivers were friendly and professional, and the whole day ran smoothly from start to finish. It’s one of those experiences where you truly get to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride—literally.

Would I book with them again? Absolutely. But next time, I’d make a few small tweaks:

  • I’d double-check which wineries allow food ahead of time or plan a lunch stop between tastings.
  • I’d shorten the time at each stop just a bit or choose wineries with additional activities or shaded seating to fill the downtime.
  • And I’d definitely make sure Meierstone Vineyards is on the list again.

Tips for Planning Your 830 Elevated Wine Tour

If you’re considering booking a tour with 830 Elevated, here are a few quick tips based on our experience:

  1. Pick your wineries carefully. You can choose from their included list or upgrade to premium options for a fee. Do a little research—each winery has a different vibe, and the mix can really shape your day.
  2. Ask about food policies. Most wineries don’t allow outside food, so plan to eat before or after your tour, or check if your chosen stops have on-site restaurants or food trucks.
  3. Bring snacks that don’t need refrigeration. The van coolers are small, and it’s best to stick to things like crackers, nuts, or prepackaged snacks.
  4. Dress comfortably but cute. You’ll be getting in and out of vans and walking on gravel or grass, so comfy shoes are key—but remember, these are some seriously photo-worthy spots.
  5. Stay hydrated. Between the tastings and Texas heat, you’ll be thankful for those bottles of water they provide.
  6. Tip your driver. They handle all the scheduling, driving, and logistics—and they deserve it! But before you do make sure it wasn’t already included. In our case tip was added in advance so no one needed to tip at the end.

Final Thoughts

830 Elevated Wine Tours is a great option for groups who want a relaxed, turn-key way to experience Fredericksburg’s wineries. You don’t have to worry about driving, coordinating schedules, or figuring out where to go next—they handle it all. Just be prepared for a slower pace and make sure to plan your lunch strategy ahead of time.

Our group had a blast, learned a ton, took way too many photos at Meierstone, and came home with a few bottles of wine (and a solid afternoon buzz). If you’re visiting Fredericksburg with friends and want to experience Texas wine country in comfort and style, 830 Elevated Wine Tours is definitely worth booking.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

If you’re looking for the perfect getaway with your girlfriends, look no further than Fredericksburg, Texas. This quaint town is a treasure trove of wineries, boutiques, and delicious eats. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, just need a break from the daily grind, or simply want to indulge in some fine wine and retail therapy, Fredericksburg has everything you need for an epic girls’ trip. Here’s how my best friend Lindsey and I spent an unforgettable weekend in wine country, sipping our way through vineyards, indulging in gourmet meals, and snagging some seriously cute finds.

Stay at Absolute Charm AirBNB

Absolute Charm AirBNB Fredericksburg, TX

After driving into town (cue the playlist packed with girl-power anthems), we arrived at Absolute Charm, our VRBO. Think cozy meets chic—this place was Insta-worthy at every angle. With its charming decor and perfect location in the heart of Fredericksburg, it was the ideal spot to unwind after a day of wine tasting. Bonus points for the comfy beds because, let’s be honest, no one wants to wake up with a wine headache and a crick in their neck. For more suggestions on where to stay check out: 10 Unique Places to Stay in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Take a Wine Tour

Invention Vineyards Fredericksburg, Texas

What’s a girls’ trip to Fredericksburg without a wine tour, am I right? We mapped out a solid plan to hit four wineries that gave us a perfect blend of red, white, and everything in between.

Grape Creek Vineyards
We started off at Grape Creek Vineyards, aka “Tuscany in Texas.” The sprawling vineyards and Mediterranean-style buildings made us feel like we had been transported straight to Italy (minus the 14-hour flight). The wines? Chef’s kiss. We may or may not have joined the wine club. I mean, when in Rome…or Fredericksburg.

Heath Sparkling Wines
Next up, we made a beeline for Heath Sparkling Wines. Because nothing says “girls’ weekend” quite like bubbly. And let me tell you, these sparklers did not disappoint. The tastings were paired with some of the fanciest little bites, and it felt like we were living our best champagne-sipping, luxe-lifestyle dreams.

Invention Vineyards
Invention Vineyards brought out our inner wine connoisseurs (OK, more like casual tasters, but still). This winery had some inventive blends, and each sip was like a pleasant surprise. We debated the notes of oak, berries, and…I don’t know, magic? My favorite is their red RB wine. It was a fun and unique stop on our tour.

Kuhlman Estate
Last but definitely not least, Kuhlman Estate. This place oozes laid-back charm. We loved the intimate atmosphere, and the tiny food pairing with the wine tastings was a total game changer. It’s hard to describe just how good the wine was—let’s just say we didn’t leave without bottles in hand.

For more winery recommendations check out: 12 Top Wineries in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Breakfast

Sunset Grill Fredericksburg

For breakfast, we headed to Sunset Grill, which quickly became our new favorite brunch spot. The coffee was strong (thank goodness), and the food was comfort on a plate. I highly recommend their huevos rancheros if you’re into starting your day with a kick. Plus, the name says it all—you couldn’t pick a more perfect spot for soaking up that Texas sunshine.

Lunch

Stouts Fredericksburg

If you join the wine club at any of the four wineries I mentioned then you have access to Stouts their private restaurant next to Grape Creek Vineyards. They have an amazing charcuterie board. Basically, everything we had there was fabulous and the staff was lovely.

Dinner

The Traveler Collections Fredericksburg, Texas

Dinner was spent at Traveler’s Table Collection, where the food was just as delightful as the ambiance. This spot has a global fusion menu that took us on a culinary adventure—everything from charcuterie boards to decadent entrees that were seriously drool-worthy. We ended the night feeling fancy and full (the best combo).

Shop ‘Til You Drop

Shopping in Fredericksburg, Texas

No girls’ trip is complete without some retail therapy, and Fredericksburg’s boutique scene is top-tier. We wandered in and out of stores, each more charming than the last. Whether you’re in the market for unique home decor, vintage finds, or cute clothing, you’ll find it all here. Just be warned, your credit card might get a workout! For more things to do check out: 10 Amazing Things to Do in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Visit a Swanky Bar

Brooke's Bubble Bar Fredericksburg, Texas

We also popped into Brooke’s Bubble Bar for a little shopping and sips situation. Who knew sipping a mimosa while perusing cute accessories was the key to happiness? I originally thought we would need a reservation in advance but this wasn’t the case, we walked right in. If it is too busy, head across the street to Six Twists.

Wildseed Farms

Wildseed Farm Fredericksburg, Texas

Between sipping and shopping, we took a scenic detour to Wildseed Farms. If you love flowers, this place will blow your mind—it’s the largest working wildflower farm in the country. Even if you’re not into plants, the stunning fields are worth the visit. Plus, the gift shop was perfect for grabbing a few souvenirs to remind us of our Fredericksburg escape.

Final Thoughts: Plan Your Fredericksburg Girls’ Trip NOW!

Fredericksburg, Texas Girls Trip

From sipping sparkling wines to enjoying world-class food and soaking in the small-town charm, Fredericksburg delivered the ultimate girls’ weekend. We left with full hearts, fuller bellies, and enough wine to last…well, a week or two at least. If you’ve been thinking about planning a getaway with your gal pals, trust me, Fredericksburg should be at the top of your list.

So grab your friends, pack your bags, and get ready for a weekend of laughter, wine, and memories that will last long after the last sip. Cheers to girls’ trips done right!

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to travel extensively with my girlfriends. Whether for a destination bachelorette party, divorce party or just a weekend to get together and catch up I’ve been all over the place with my friends. Here are some of my favorite girl’s trips, including a few all-inclusive girlfriend getaways

Extraordinary Destinations for a Girlfriend Getaway

Let’s face it, some destinations are more memorable than others. Here are four stunning destinations that have a little bit of everything like epic views, one-of-a-kind experiences, incredible food, and more.

Oia Santorini
Oia Santorini

Greece

If you can go anywhere, go to Greece and visit at least two of the islands. My two favorites are Santorini and Mykonos.

In Santorini, you can enjoy world-renowned sunsets in Oia, lounge on unique beaches like the Red Beach, and dabble in the electrifying nightlife in Fira.

In Santorini, staying in a cave is a must. There are hundreds of little whitewashed caves burrowed into the side of the mountain and staying at one is a one-of-a-kind experience. If staying in a cave is too expensive, consider staying one night in a cave and then moving to a cheaper hotel for the other nights. We stayed in the Ethereum Luxury Cave

Over on the island of Mykonos, friends can party all night at legendary clubs like the Toy Room and Ling-Ling by Hakkasan. During the day, you can bop around Mykonos city to do some one-of-a-kind shopping or head to one of the many gorgeous beaches to enjoy a lazy day of lounging.

In Mykonos, you should stay in Mykonos City or at a beach. If you prefer the beach, I recommend staying down at Plati Gialos.

San Antonio Girls TripSan Antonio

San Antonio has it all. They have exceptional restaurants with amazing food, excellent shopping, swanky hotels along the river walk, and happening nightlife. My go-to place to stay with girlfriends is Hotel Emma, one of the top boutique hotels in the world. My second recommendation would be Mokara Hotel and Spa because it’s right on the riverwalk, and the spa was fantastic! For a long list of San Antonio recommendations, see my article: San Antonio Guide.

Bachelorette Party in Savannah
Bachelorette Party in Savannah

Savannah

Savannah is a picturesque city full of history, and the food is absolutely phenomenal. While you are here, shop along the waterfront at the famous River Street Market Place, dine at incredible restaurants like Paula Dean’s Lady and Sons restaurant and Belford’s where celebrities often dine, and of course, hit up a spa. If everyone is up for some nightlife fun, Savannah has a popping club scene down at City Market. I recommend renting a large historic home with your friends and make sure it has a pool, ’cause it gets hot down there. If you have time, head out to Tybee Island to enjoy the beach!

salt water pool at El Dorado RoyaleRiviera Maya

Riviera Maya, Mexico is situated just north of Playa Del Carmen and it is filled with luxurious all-inclusive hotels. Here you and your girlfriends can completely unwind.

For those that can afford to splurge, there is Grand Velas, an all-inclusive resort with a plush spa, upscale dining, and butler service to take care of everything little thing you may need. You can read our full Grand Velas review.

For those with a tighter budget, there is El Dorado Royale, where almost every room has an ocean view and they offer butler service as well. They had food so good my friend and I still talk about it!

If you decide you want to leave the resort Playa Del Carmen is a short taxi ride away. Here friends can enjoy both shopping and nightlife. Here are 12 activities near Riviera Maya.

New York CityNew York City

New York City never disappoints. You and your girlfriends can shop until you drop, catch award-winning shows and eat fancy meals. If you have your heart set on seeing a specific show be sure to buy tickets in advance. Be sure to end at least one night at Ayza Chocolate Bar and book the penthouse at the Row NYC. There is so much to see in do in NYC check out our guide to help you place your entire trip, New York City Travel Guide or our Mother Daughter New York City Weekend Getaway.

Party Getaways

There’s plenty of time for grown-up girls’ getaways, but every now and again you want to let loose. Here are a couple of spots where you can keep the party going long after the sun goes down! Granted, all of the places mentioned here could be a party destination should you choose to make it.

AustinAustin, Texas Bachelorette Party

Austin, Texas has exploded over the last couple of years and there’s a good reason why. With well over 60,000 college students attending the University of Texas, including my daughter Eden, there are a lot of bars.

6th Street is the go-to party street. The street is closed off for pedestrian traffic only, making it easy to bounce from one bar to the next. There’s live music all over the place. If 6th Street is too intense, head one street over. On 5th street, the vibe is a little less rowdy and there are a lot of great rooftop bars.

If you want to take a break from the bar scene, try an area wine tour, go float the river, or visit one of the area springs to cool off! No matter what you do, have BBQ

In Austin, we recommend staying at The Line or renting a sweet VRBO.

Las Vegas

vegas dress
Vegas Baby!

Las Vegas is one of the top party cities in the world and everyone in your group will have fun dancing at night at packed clubs while famous DJs spin away. By day, friends can relax at the spa and lounge by the pool. My favorite place to stay with friends in Vegas is the Cosmopolitan or a VRBO. Here’s a list of our favorite VRBO Las Vegas Vacation Homes

For a list of recommendations, see my article: Las Vegas Girlfriends Getaway.

BangkokFind out what the top two Rooftop bars in Bangkok are

The nightlife in Bangkok is banging. (See what I did there?) They’ve got some of the most phenomenal rooftop bars in the entire world. Plus, the most famous party street in the world, Khao San Road. While you are there you must make time to see the sights and eat the incredible food. I recommend staying at Banyan Tree or at Fraser Suites.

Spa Getaways

Everyone deserves to be pampered once and a while. Why not take a spa trip with friends? You can enjoy long gourmet meals together, splurge on decadent spa treatments, and just take a break from the world. I recommend taking a spa trip to an all-inclusive getaway, especially if you’re a mom. Everything is done for you, which allows you to completely unwind. Whatever spa you decide to visit make sure they have a substantial hydrotherapy circuit.

Puerto Vallarta

Hotel Mousai

Puerto Vallarta is a fantastic city with rich culture, fantastic food, and lots of activities. Over the years it has gotten better on every level, so if it’s been over a decade since you visited it’s definitely worth going back. My favorite place to stay in Puerto Vallarta happens to also be my absolute favorite hotel in the world, Hotel Mousai. Their spa was out of this world and the rooftop pool is spectacular.

Punta Canaimg 4407

Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic often flies under the radar, but it’s an ideal place for a girlfriend’s getaway. The beaches are gorgeous, there are lots of fun things to do, and the food is unique. My favorite place to stay is Dreams Onyx on the adults-only side. If you want the spa plus the party, stay at Breathless. The pace is slow in Punta Cana, allowing you to fully relax.

Cancun

Live Aqua Cancun

Cancun could have gone under the party place, but what I enjoyed so much when I was there was not the party scene it was the spas. Almost every large resort has a pretty spectacular spa. My favorite place to stay in Cancun is in the resort zone at adult’s only all-inclusive Live Aqua Cancun. They do have a spa, but I recommend a different one. My favorite spa is Coral Beach Gem Spa located inside the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach resort.

Coral Beach Gem Spa
Coral Beach Gem Spa

Los Cabos

Cabo Girls Trip

Cabo is really ideal. For those on the West Coast, it’s super easy to get to and like most touristy places in Mexico, they’ve got it all. Fun excursions, elaborate all-inclusive resorts, killer food, and more. When I went with my friends we stayed at Paradisus. It was wonderful, but next time we will stay at Garza Blanca. Here is our Los Cabos Girlfriend Getaway to help you plan a fabulous trip.

Wino Getaways

There are few things in life better than catching up with your girls over a bottle of wine. Here are some wine-focused getaways everyone in your group will enjoy. If you want to visit an area with lots of wineries these are my top picks.

Portland Area

Brooks Winery
Brooks Winery

If food and wine are your top priorities head to Portland, Oregon,  where the foodie scene just keeps getting better and better as local award-winning chefs and winemakers continue to push the limits. Plus, the wine scene has exploded just outside of Portland in Hood River and Willamette Valley. In addition to good food and wine, they have a vibrant music scene and stunning gardens worth touring. For more food recommendations in Portland see my article: Best Things to Eat and Drink in Portland.

Fredericksburg

Das Peachhaus Winery Fredericksburg

For a low-key girls’ weekend filled with sweet Texas wines and boutique shopping, Fredericksburg is an excellent choice. This quaint German Texas town is full of wineries and independently owned shops and restaurants. Das Peach Hous has lots of area wines you can try and the property is beautiful. Visit the pond out back for a great photo opportunity. Other wineries you should visit are Messina Hof, Wedding Oak Winery at Wildseed Oak, and Fiesta Winery.

Fredericksburg, Texas
Silver Creek Bar & Grill in Fredericksburg, Texas

For a German lunch or dinner, eat at the Silver Creek Beer Garden and Grille. They almost always have live music. For a more upscale dinner, try Navajo Grill. At night you can grab a beer at Hondo’s on Main and listen to some live Texas rock. I recommend staying at Hoffman Haus or one of these: 10 Unique Places to Stay in Fredericksburg, Texas. To place your entire trip check out: Fredericksburg Girls’ Trip: Wine, Dine, and Shop Till You Drop.

Napa ValleyGirlfriends trip in Calistoga, California

I suppose everyone knows that Napa Valley is the place to go for a wine trip. I recommend staying in Calistoga, that’s where Dawna and I stayed for her birthday. Calistoga is a small city known for hot springs, mud baths, and of course amazing wineries. Stay at the Solage Resort, they’ve got a spa, multiple hot pools, excellent food, loaner bikes, and it’s close to lots of wineries. Be sure to visit Davis Winery, it blew our minds.

7 Best Napa Valley Wineries

11 Best Napa Wineries for Families with Kids

Finger LakesWineries in the Finger Lakes

The Finger Lakes region of New York is bursting with wineries. You could spend several days in this area and never run out of wineries to visit. Some of my favorites are Montezuma Winery where you will want to sample their award-winning Diamond wine, Glenora Winery where you can try a fizzy pomegranate wine, and Belhurst Winery where the inside of the castle alone makes it worth the stop.

For a beautiful place to stay with a stunning garden, stay at Mirbeau Inn and Spa. As you plan your winery route be sure to make your way down to Watkins Glen State Park for a phenomenal hike.

Conclusion

This list could easily keep going because let’s face it when you are with friends any place is a good destination! This list gives you a lot of ideas to start planning your own girls’ trip.

Other places that are always fun that I didn’t include, but they came close to being in my top choices were Los Angeles and New Orleans. In fact, my next girl’s trip is in New Orleans in a few months with my Odessa girls, so I’ll probably be updating this soon.

The best part about planning a trip with your friends is that it doesn’t matter where you go. When you are with good friends you are guaranteed to have an epic time.

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass, PogoPass, and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Get a Lyft

More often than not, Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.

Save Money on Gas

Upside a free app gets you cash back on gas! Use promo code RV2Q2 to get an extra 15¢/gal bonus on your first purchase.

Get a Visa

I use iVisa to get all of my Visas.
