Flying Fish Cafe is an upscale restaurant located near the Boardwalk Resort at Disney World.

Flying Fish is one of the more expensive places to dine at Disney World. Our bill for the five of us, including tip was about $170. I actually thought it would be over $200, so it wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be.

It was a great place to take the kids. Although you will be dining there for a while, it’s not nearly as long as California Grill or Jiko. The kid meal prices ranged from $7 – $12, which is not bad at all.

Flying Fish Cafe Dress Code

There is a slight dress code. I recommend collared shirts for boys and a sundress for girls.  

The minimum dress code requirements:

Men must wear khakis, slacks or dress shorts and collared shirts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition. Sport coats are optional.

Women must wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses or dress shorts. Jeans may be worn if in good condition.

Not permitted are tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.

Inside Flying Fish

The inside of the restaurant is small, but it is really neat and different. There are flying fish hanging from the ceiling. A large bar wraps around the open kitchen. At the bar, you can participate in the Chef’s Tasting Wine Dinner, a 5-course prix-fixe menu with wine and you can interact with the culinary team.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini

This is the best drink I’ve ever had at Disney World! And at this point, I have had my fair share of Disney cocktails!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini Recipe

1 oz vanilla vodka
2 oz pineapple juice
1 dash grenadine syrup

Shake pineapple juice and vanilla vodka with ice in a tumbler. Pour into a martini cocktail glass with a dash of grenadine at the bottom, and serve.

This was huge, my guest and I could have split this. I think next time we eat here we will split something and save $40. I did take the leftovers back to our hotel. This particular time we were staying off Disney property at Summer Bay Resort, so we had a full kitchen.

Flying Fish Cafe Desserts

The highlight of our dining experience here was dessert. I had read about Mickey’s Chocolate Puzzle dessert and all the reviews were spot on. Mickey’s Puzzle dessert is an awesome dessert for kids. It’s made of white chocolate pieces that your kids put together to make a picture of Mickey. Then they can paint the chocolate picture with sugar paints. It also comes with a cupcake.

What I had not expected was how fabulous all the other desserts were. My daughter got Sorcerer Mickey’s Milk Chocolate Cauldron, which she loved!

Get Travel Insurance

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can go wrong on any trip. Be prepared for the worst with travel insurance. We use Travelex or Safety Wing (often cheaper).

Book Flights

I use Skyscanner to find flights. I use it so much, I wrote an entire guide to finding cheap flights with Skyscanner! Another option for finding deals is FlightHub.

Book a Place to Stay

I recommend using Expedia.com or Hotels.com for most hotel bookings. I prefer to book directly with Marriott when I stay there because of their excellent military discount.

If you prefer staying in a vacation rental instead, I recommend VRBO. If you are looking for a hostel, I use HostelWorld.

Choose Activities and Tours

To find great activities in any area I use Viator. If we are visiting a city with lots of popular attractions I always check CityPass, PogoPass, and GoCard to see if they have discount cards available. Groupon also tends to have a lot of local travel deals.

When I want to book a full-on multi-day tour I use TourRadar. They’ve got fantastic weekly deals. If going somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean, I use Apple Vacations.

Rent a Car or Get a Lyft

More often than not, Lyft is cheaper than Uber. Use my Lyft link for an $18 credit! For a car rental in any country, I recommend Hertz or Discover Cars.
