11 Best Family Resorts in Riviera Maya

Hey there, fellow traveling families! If you’re planning your next adventure with the kiddos to the beautiful Riviera Maya in Mexico, you’re in for a treat. With 20+ years of globe-trotting under my belt, and many of those trips with my own kids, I’ve got some fantastic recommendations for family-friendly resorts in this slice of paradise. No matter where you stay the whole family will have a great time and enjoy beautiful white-sand beaches. These resorts are in no particular order. 

1. Grand Luxxe at Vidanta

Staying at Grand Luxxe at Vidanta was wonderful from start to finish. The rooms are fabulous. My kids are teens so having all that space made such a significant difference. Plus, it was nice to have a private plunge pool out on the huge patio. The fitness center for this section of the resort had everything you could need. The private pool had wait service and was a peaceful environment. There was also a beach area just for this section too. One of the best parts of staying here is all the things to do. They are home to the Cirque du Soleil show Joya, Jungala waterpark, and they have the Le Petit Chef dining experience here! FYI: this is not an all-inclusive resort. Check current rates on Expedia.

2. Eco-Friendly Fun: Sandos Caracol Eco Resort

As a family that loves nature, we adored Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. It’s an eco-friendly paradise where you can immerse yourself in the local flora and fauna. The resort organizes eco-tours, and there’s even a natural cenote where you can swim. The kids were enthralled by the wildlife we could see monkeys and coatis from our balcony, and the eco-themed activities were both fun and educational. There are so many activities you never have to leave the resort including a waterpark, hiking trails, bikes, a cenote, beach (a bit rocky), multiple pools, activities, night entertainment, and Mayan ruins. 3. Luxury and Leisure: Grand Velas Riviera Maya

If you’re looking to splurge a bit, Grand Velas Riviera Maya is the place to be. It’s all about luxury here, but with a family-friendly twist. The kids’ club is top-notch, offering everything from cooking classes to treasure hunts, while the spa is a haven for adults. Their gourmet dining options are also a big hit – even with the pickiest little eaters! 4. Adventure Awaits: Xcaret Hotel

Now, for an experience that blends culture, nature, and fun, Xcaret Hotel is your go-to. With unlimited access to the Xcaret parks like Xplor, every day is a new adventure. We particularly loved all the pools and the evening shows, some of which showcase Mexican culture and history. It’s an educational and entertaining experience for the entire family. If all of your kids are older like mine you can stay next door at Xcaret Arte. It’s an adult’s only but the age starts at 16. Check current rates.

5. All-Inclusive Bliss: Iberostar Paraiso Lindo

Lastly, Iberostar Paraiso Lindo offers an all-inclusive experience that takes the stress out of vacation planning. The lazy river and wave pool are hits among the kids, and the variety of restaurants cater to all taste buds. Their Star Camp keeps the little ones busy with a range of activities, allowing parents some much-deserved relaxation time. Check current rates. 

6. Rocking Good Time: Hard Rock Riviera Maya

Get ready to rock at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya. This place isn’t just about the live music (which is fantastic, by the way); it’s a haven for families. The teens club is a hit with older kids, offering video games and other cool activities. For the little ones, the water slides are a blast. 7. Cartoon Fun: Nickelodeon Riviera Maya

Nickelodeon Riviera Maya brings your kids’ favorite cartoons to life. The resort is packed with fun, featuring incredible water slides and a chance to meet beloved Nickelodeon characters like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sponge Bob, Patrick, and Dora. Barcelo Maya Palace is an all-inclusive beachfront resort located in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico. This luxurious property features seven different pools with waterslides, a hot tub, a spa with sauna and steam rooms, several restaurants and bars, plus plenty of recreational activities such as tennis courts and mini golf courses. 10. Endless Fun: Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort and Spa

Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort and Spa offers a wide variety of all-inclusive experiences because when you stay in the family zoon you have access to all four resorts located across the property. With access to so much you will never run out of places to eat and things to do.

The Kantenah section has rooms that can sleep up to five, a family pool with food and drink service, a small playground, and a junior’s club. If your kids are younger then tweens there is a baby club for 1 – 3 years old and a kids club as well. Parents will love the spa and the elaborate hydrotherapy. Check current rates. 

11. The Playful Paradise: Ocean Coral & Turquesa

Our first stop is the Ocean Coral & Turquesa. This resort is a haven for families, and I can personally vouch for its amazing kids’ club. The mini water park kept my children entertained for hours, and the family suites were spacious and comfortable. Check current rates.
